Pico's Cafe☕ LAGGY? TRY: https://turbowarp.org/1375928399 ◇ a cozy game about running a coffee shop for 5 days ___________________________________________ When Pico opens a new cafe in Scratch Forest, things seem simple: make drinks, meet customers and keep everyone happy. But when Scratch Cat, the mayor, announces he'll review the cafe on Friday, Pico has five days to earn enough money and a high enough reputation to prove it deserves to stay open. Meet the locals from the forest, learn recipes, survive increasingly chaotic shifts and meet the regulars who slowly turn Pico's Cafe into something more than just a coffee shop. ____________________________________________ I made this after entering @1BellaPup's Anything Contest, originally wanting something super cozy, interactive, chill and visually pleasing. Inspired by Goodgis's cozy Scratch games series, I set out to make my own. What started as a pretty coffee shop somehow became a full story with characters, dialogue, objectives, grades, multiple endings and way too many tiny details lol. ___________________________________________ How to play → mouse to interact → make drinks in the correct order → serve customers before they lose patience → SPACE for dialogue → earn 500 coins → get 4 B grades or better → survive until Friday :) __________________________________________ TWO ENDINGS Pico’s story can end in two different ways depending on how well you run the cafe. Reach your weekly goals (500 coins, 4 B+ days) for the good ending, or fall short and discover the other ending. ___________________________________________ RECIPES black coffee → beans, brew latte → beans, brew, milk house special → beans, brew, milk, brew again milkshake → sugar, milk, ice iced coffee → beans, brew, milk, ice hot chocolate → sugar, milk, brew you'll probably get pretty familiar with the House Special.... that's all I'll say :) Some stuff in the project ◇ custom art + layered backgrounds ◇ particles, parallax ◇ changing lighting + day/night cycle ◇ 6 drinks ◇ unique customer personalities ◇ multiple orders + increasing difficulty ◇ daily grades + weekly objectives ◇ character cutscenes + themes ◇ multiple endings + full credits ◇ lots of tiny details ___________________________________________ about the project Pico's Cafe started way smaller than this: at first I just wanted to make a nice-looking coffee shop. then I added Pico, customers, drinks, dialogue, characters and eventually a whole story. then somehow Scratch Cat became the mayor and the cafe was at risk of closing? the project went through a LOT of versions and an unreasonable amount of playtesting, rewriting, bug fixing and polishing. one of the first things Pico learns is the House Special. by the end, it's just another recipe you've made over and over again - there's a reason it matters. ____________________________________________ music + credits ◇ all scripting and art created by dune44 ◇ made for 's Anything Contest ◇ inspired by Goodgis's cozy Scratch games series ◇ scratch characters + platform by the Scratch Team AI contribution ◇ thumbnail developed with partial AI contribution 25+ hours of work ≈ 12000 blocks music includes tracks from: - UNDERTALE - DELTARUNE - the Mii Channel - Kairo Keyz - Xaf. all music belongs to its respective creators. huge thanks to for hosting the contest that gave me a reason to start this, to Goodgis for the inspiration, and to Scratch for being the platform that got me into making games in the first place. --- thanks If you played for thirty seconds, thanks. If you survived Giga ordering lattes, thanks. And if you played all five days, reached Friday, watched the ending and stayed for the credits... seriously, thank you. this started as me messing around with a cozy coffee shop and somehow became one of the projects I'm most proud of making. I hope by Friday this little cafe felt slightly different than it did when you first walked in on Monday. --- about dune44 6 years ago I was introduced to Scratch in the fourth grade. I got hooked, first making school projects and then more advanced hobby projects on my personal account. now six years later I'm rediscovering Scratch on dune44, a fresh account after a long time away. I'm still not the best scripter I'll admit, but while I've been away I've learnt countless new languages and built my skills. honestly? I think I have a good chance of fulfilling my childhood goal. old childhood goal: 1,000 followers idk if i'll ever get there lol on dune44 I make games, art and whatever seems fun, focusing on actually making things I'm proud of instead of pumping out low-quality projects. if you've read this far... thanks for being part of my journey. thanks for playing :) — dune44 not bad, pico. not bad at all.
