Chapter 1 It was 1:30am when I walked in for the night shift. It was dark and gloomy with sticky tile floor and flickering lights. I knew it was going to be a long night because every minute felt like a century. I finished checking in a patient when a weird looking man walked in. He had deep and mostly black eyes with a cold gaze that looked into my soul. “... cool place can you check me in” “o-ok” I said with a weird feeling in my gut.I shrugged it off and checked him in but when he was walking away, his feet almost weren't moving. It was almost like he was gliding across the room. I told myself that I was just imagining it. About an hour later, I checked the clock. The piercing white light shone across the room and read 2:00am. “Huh…weird.must just be tired” I worked and worked for about 2 hours and checked in about 15 people.nice! As I dropped my pen I looked under the desk and let out a frightened yelp. There was a pure black rat with almost no pupils and all white. I looked at it and discussed and wrapped it up in a towel. I grabbed it and carried it to the animal center across the street. I walked in and the man working the counter had the same weird features. The black, sunken eyes and he looked very similar. I gave him a strange look and said “here I-I found this in my hospital” he kept looking at me until he said “...thanks…” “y-your welcome” I said with a weird stutter that I didn't recall doing. I walked back in with a gasp of fear and shock. Every one was on the floor with black substance dripping off of them and a trail of it going down the hallway. My legs shook with fear as I walked down the hallway with the lights flickering more now. I reached the end of the trail and looked up. The strange looking man was now floating, the black substance dripping off of him like sweat from a runner. I screamed with shock as I fell on the floor with terror.
