My school is crazy ableist and it's quite literally sabotaging my education. I have anxiety, as in the diagnosed disorder. Their classes are structured around working in groups and lots of other things like presentations and having your work shown off. The school itself will not provide me any accommodations for my disability. I cannot take any sort of medication as of now that can help me. Our school does not allow us to bring anything distracting, including stress balls or anything. I, due to my condition, need the toys they deem disruptive and distracting or I constantly end up itching my hands, and I mean to the point of permanent damage. I used to combat these behaviours by wearing lots of bracelets to compress my arms which helps somehow. But I can't do that anymore since I've been getting bullied and my own friends of around 2-5 years have been telling me to grow up. I just started dressing more 'scene' since it makes me the most comfortable too and had helped with my anxiety but on the first day of school, my closest friend literally insulted me (something I can't repeat here) for my clothing. So, as of now, my anxiety and other issues are getting worse, I scratched my hands horribly to the point it hurts to type this, I don't feel comfortable wearing anything that feels like me, and my school won't allow me to attempt to help myself. I cannot focus in class and cannot concentrate because of my condition. They only provide accommodations for anything they decide is a 'real issue' which apparently doesn't include mental illnesses and disorders.
