⟡ A NEW CHAPTER OF LEGACIES ⟡ Once upon a time, there were three Clans... Okay, perhaps not quite like that. But we've been thinking about what makes Legacies feel like /Legacies/ and we've realized that we don't want it to feel like we're simply documenting a roleplay. We want it to feel like you're reading one. From this point forward, Legacies will be leaning much more heavily into an old fairytale / storybook style of storytelling. Not everything will be explained. Not every mystery will have an answer. Not every old story will be true. And not every force that exists in this world will be understood by the cats who live in it. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Legacies will still have its systems, rules, stats, rolls, Clan mechanics, and everything else that makes the RP function. Those aren't going anywhere. What's changing is the way the world around them is presented. Instead of treating everything as a simple fact, some things may be presented as... - old tales passed down through generations - stories whispered between apprentices - legends with forgotten origins - contradictory accounts of history - mysterious occurrences with no clear explanation - things that even the cats themselves don't fully understand The world may have answers. Your characters just might not know them. THE SUPERNATURAL This is where the change becomes especially important. StarClan, the Dark Forest, the Divine, the Seven Deities, the Seven Vices, ghosts, dreams, and other supernatural forces will be treated less like a clearly documented system and more like something ancient and mysterious. Perhaps a medicine cat knows what the stars are said to mean. Perhaps an elder remembers an old story differently. Perhaps two cats have completely different explanations for the same phenomenon. And perhaps there are things that nobody has ever explained at all. We want there to be room for mystery. STORIES ARE NOT ALWAYS FACTS One of the biggest parts of this change is that in-universe stories don't necessarily equal canon truth. A Clan might have a legend about how their ancestors received their name. StarClan might have its own stories about the Divine. The Dark Forest might tell a completely different version. Some tales may have been changed over hundreds of moons. Some may have been exaggerated. Some may be completely wrong. And some might be true. We'll leave that for you to discover. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ROLEPLAYERS? We want you to play into the uncertainty. Your character doesn't need to know everything that's written in the lorebook. In fact, they shouldn't. A kit shouldn't understand the mysteries of the afterlife. An apprentice might believe an old nursery tale completely. A warrior might dismiss it as nonsense. A medicine cat might have seen something that makes them question everything they thought they knew. That's the fun of it. Your character lives in the story. They don't have the book open in front of them. THE FEEL WE'RE AIMING FOR An old book with worn pages. Stories told beside a dying fire. Names that have survived longer than anyone remembers. Warnings passed from parent to kit. Stars that seem to watch a little too closely. Forests that feel different after dark. And questions that are perhaps better left unanswered. Legacies isn't becoming a fantasy world. It's becoming a fairytale about a world that may be stranger than its inhabitants realize. ✦ EVERY CAT HAS A STORY. ✦ EVERY STORY LEAVES A LEGACY. Welcome to the next chapter.
Written by Me... Yeah! So I've made a few changes after crafting a few ideas, and Ive decided it needs a few changes from what makes this like other rps. Legacies needs to remain itself, I dont want it to just be 'another one of those rps, then.' I want it to be something new! And so we make it that way.
