maybe in another life, you could've been mine. I watch as she laughs, aching in my chest. she's beautiful. she's kind. she's got stars in her eyes. did you ever describe me like that? like someone words did no justice for? I can imagine how she feels. like she's the only star you see, out of an entire galaxy. like if you were walking in a garden of girls, she'd be the only flower you picked. like if it was dark, and you were lost, she'd be the one you'd search for to bring you back home. I know how she feels... because I felt it once. I thought you'd stay. it is what you said. but something about her, just drew you to her. was it her smile? her eyes? her laugh? because that's what you said drew you to me. but I'm not her, am I? she's the one who has your heart, the one who ripped us apart. maybe in another life, we could've been. something more than what we were. but in this life, in this now, she's your wife. she's your how. I watch from afar, as you hold her, your precious star. maybe in another life, I could've been her.
This a confusing poem - it definitely did not turn out the way I thought it would, but uh. there it is lol. a draft of a paragraph of this poem that I scratched ↓ I saw gold, I saw yellow shades of orange, soft and mellow.
