Story by me: Name: Mikayla//She/her//Age: 8 Mikayla grew up in an unhealthy household. Her mother was prone to screaming fits and her father would rarely stand up for her when she got screamed at. She kept herself at school as long as she could, joining all sorts of activities she didn’t even like. She surrounded herself with friends and was more happy with them than she ever was with her parents. She was slipping into alc holism and getting violent. One night Mikayla’s father woke her up and told her they were leaving. She didn’t know where they were going, but she packed a small bag and left with her father. They got on a plane and moved to the UK. Mikayla didn’t know anybody and was scared she would be ostracized because she was from the USA. He found a new girlfriend who Mikayla liked well enough. At school her friend were started to get into guys, and she wasn’t, but figured it would just be a matter of time. The group also started doing lots of activities like cheerleading and gymnastics. Mikayla wasn’t sure she liked all of them but did them anyways so she wouldn’t be thrown out of the friend group. Name: Kayde// SHe/Her// Age: 14// Lesbian? The leader in the friend group, a girl named Jayde, told Mikayla to change her name. That Mikayla was “too childish.” She changed her name to Kayde and immediately everybody started calling her that. Everybody except a girl named Mira. Kayde didn’t know what it meant, but thought it was cute. Mira and Kayde started spending for time together, and Kayde thought she might be catching feelings, but didn’t want to tell anybody because she hadn’t really heard anybody talking about liking the same gender Name: Kayde// She/Her// Age: 16// Lesbian Kayde had started kind of separating from the group. She didn’t really like being super popular. The only girl she still hung out with was Mira. They spend almost everyday together, and Kayde knows she had feelings. One night they are spending together Kayde confesses her feelings, and Mira is quiet for a long time. She says she has to leave and Kayde thinks she ruined everything. But the next day Mira said that it was sweet and that she’d love to go out with Kayde. She is still dating Mira and finally came out to her dad and stepmom who are both very supportive. They graduated high school and decided to go to the same college. Mikayla is going for psychology and Mira is studying education.
