(Click the screen) Does anyone remember extremes? That was the original idea for school dance! The main characters were to be Lyra, Maddy, and Quinn, and Oliver and Ash! This project is about the sort of beginning of school dance, my original inspiration, ideas, and more on extremes! Enjoy, and click through the project for some older school dance art! EXTREMES extremes was the original iteration of school dance! It was going to be written out and focused on Lyra’s troubles as an aroace, there was no school dance even involved lol! At the time I had to answer a lot of questions like “OMG how are you aromantic and pan that makes NO SENSE!” Which annoyed me to no end. No offense to any of you btw, but I’d recommend maybe just looking it up atp because I have to answer these questions daily :,) sorry if this is rude lol But yes. I was so annoyed that I was going to write a story about Lyra, an aroace, wondering why she felt like she had feelings for someone, going back on her feelings, her identity, and really just being a mess the whole time lol. And who did she have feelings for? Maddy, who in this was supposed to be more of a tomboy before figuring out she was genderfluid. So yeah, BIG CHANGES, lol. So Lyra would help Maddy figure out her identity while feeling odd because of her feelings as an aroace, and in the ending figuring out exactly what Aromantic means. Ash and Oliver had pretty much the same story, but Rowan didn’t exist, and over’s parents weren’t outright homophobic at all, just confused. It was mostly about Oliver wondering how he felt, trying to get over his social anxiety around people, becoming friends with Lyra and Maddy, helping Lyra out with her feelings and figuring out that he never had any feelings towards ash that were more than platonic. Yes. Ashiver was NOT going to be a thing. lol. Ash kinda sat there obliviously going “yay we’re all friends!” And Quinn!!! Quinn was going to be a main character of extremes and someone who after figuring out her own gender identity and orientation, helping Lyra out. So yeah! That was extremes. SCHOOL DANCE school dance was obviously a different version of extremes, but I was going to go through with extremes before something happened. I was talking with a friend who went to a different school, and she mentioned that her school had a girls ask guys dance going on, and I was like “that’s like super unfair!” And she’s like “now that I think about it, it is.” I thought about it for a while, and then a stroke of genius (not really lol) hit and made school dance as you know it! Originally, Lyra was to still have very faint feelings for Maddy, (Maddy being oblivious) and Oliver and ash weren’t going to have feelings for each other either. You can see I still sort of added hints to how Lyra felt about Maddy at some point, such as in their history with each other, ( “something was left unsaid” ) or in the occasional ties that Lyra would faintly blush. By the end of the story, she’d definitely have gotten over it, if it was even a small thing in the story, which imo it wasn’t. Just a little thing I thought I’d share lol! CHARACTERS Lyra- starting with our main character, I wanted her to be someone similar to me. Obviously I pushed some of my traits to the extremes (heh) while making her, but I’d like to think we’re pretty similar. (I’m better guys TRUST /hj/silly) she was based on how oddly I was feeling lately as well. Her design was pretty immediate, obviously it went through a couple of changes, but she was always supposed to have spiky ish hair and a bored expression. Originally to feed my obsession with drawing collared shirts, she was supposed to wear those often, but that didn’t happen, as you can see lol Oliver - OLIVER. My dude. He has been in thousands of stories, going by different names, fashion styles, and amount of um.. living ness? Idk, through each. He always looked pretty much the same. He was once a brunette, but he always had the same freckles, face, and curly hair / length. His personality didn’t go through too many changes, he was a bit more confident in some stories, a bit more of a jokester, a little more clueless, less kind, small tweaks on the base that olive ended up being. There is a drawing in the project at some point that shows one of his many, many, iterations. There he looks kinda of like he has a mix of ash and lyra’s clothes- lol! He was always gay. At some point he was a ghost, another time his name was Kai and he was wandering around the world [ continued in notes and credits ] Credits Writing ♥ / me Art ♥ / me
[ continued from instructions ] doing what he wanted. Funn! Maddy - Maddy barely changed besides extremes. As I said- originally a genderfluid tomboy. That’s really it. Her design also came to me pretty easily. Originally she was based on someone I knew, and honestly was supposed to be a more introverted version of lyra’s current personality, but slowly she ended up the way she is now, and it was a little too late to change her lol Ash(er) - original name was Julian but I ended up not liking it. He was the same. Always. No change I swear . He was a bit more clueless in extremes, i guess Wren - based on a interdimensionally traveling witch from another story- maybe school dance was her origin? She looks the exact same as she does in the other story, her name is wren, she acts the same, she probably accidentally traveled to this school. Was the base for the joke chapter involving her as Wren the Witch! Because she is… heh. I really wanted to add fantasy to school dance but couldn’t Rowan - Rowan was an idea I had while writing school dance, iirc the first chapter that erm appeared. I smushed her in there and it worked out lol. Wa originally not trans and amab, then was also not trans and AFAB, then I settled on amab transfem for her (also was going to be older than Oliver, changed that lol) Braid girl - what? Why does she get one? WELL. She’s another character like how wren was. Based on a character from a story I’m writing about an evil elf who wants revenge on humans and his search to find a human sacrifice or two. Her name in that story is Cal / Callie. In school dance she is Sara. I’ll have fun with the fact that she’s in two stories again. At least in this other one she is the main character :) That is all I can currently think of about school dance! There is probably way more but I think I wrote a sizable amount lol!
