When I walked Timber out into the snow at first she calmly walked by my side, before she burst off and got the zoomiezs and ran around in a circle a few times, before coming back to me. I pat her and gave her some vocal praises such as “Good girl!” for coming back to me. I then let her sniff the harness for just a couple seconds, then I rested it on her back. Timber flinched a bit before relaxing when I soothed her. Then I let go, hoping that the harness on her back would go better on her this time. Timber shook herself bit and came over to me for pets, and didn’t really seem to mind the harness as much as she did when she was first introduced to it. Next I took the harness off and let her sniff it some more, then I put the harness on her to see how she would do with it tightly on. When I first started putting it on she seemed confused about what it was, and once I was done she twisted around in a circle, trying to see what it was. Then she shook herself more violently, but the harness didn’t fall off. So she decided to roll in the snow and got herself all snowy, not sure if that really helped but she seemed to be calmer after that. Maybe she just decided that she couldn’t get the harness off and was just going to deal with it. I adjusted the harness a bit more, brushing off the snow, to make sure it was the right size before taking it off and calling it good for today. I think this session did pretty well and hopefully soon I can teach her to pull!
