Today I spent some time getting to know Lily in the pasture! Since I just got her, I’m still working on building her trust and helping her get comfortable around me. I spent some time just being with her and letting her get used to my presence instead of rushing anything. I stayed nearby, talked to her, and gave her plenty of time to come over and check me out on her own. Lily was a little unsure at first, but she slowly started relaxing around me. I was able to spend more time with her without her getting nervous, which felt like a really good step! I also gave her some scratches and attention, and by the end she seemed much more comfortable having me around. It might not seem like a huge accomplishment, but gaining a horse’s trust takes time and patience. Today was mostly about letting Lily know that she’s safe with me and that she doesn’t have to be afraid. I’m really happy with how she did today.
