Most of the time an algorithm is used to create the illusion of randomness. A simple algorithm for this involves taking the previous number multiplying it by a set amount, adding a number, and looping it if it passes a threshold to create a new number. While noticeable patterns often show up when using this, that can be avoided by using very large numbers. The issue with this is that doing math with large numbers can be very slow. Better systems exist, but I am far too lazy to code them.
