Chapter 12 Liz wasn't sure what to say. She had millions of questions but he couldn't ask them all. Mostly because she had lost all ability of speaking and partly because her questions were to many. So she asked the most important question of all, her voice lower than a whisper, "Why?". In the doorway, stood her aunt and Jessica Peters. Liz didn't know what confused her more; Was it the fact that Jessica was standing beside her aunt or simply because, her aunt had entered and her aunt happened to know the exact place her kidnappers had brought her to? "Jessica?", Liz called out to Jessica as if hoping she would somehow explain everything that was going on but Jessica couldn't even look Elizabeth in the eye. She just stared at her feet. There was a long silence as Liz was trying to process why she was apparently kidnapped and her aunt, she knew very little about had appeared in front of her with her friend, who had once accused her of being associated to the death of Mrs. Jones. Liz's aunt finally broke the silence. "My dear niece, I am quite sure you remember me. It's Maria Wimble, your aunt, the sister of your mother." "I remember you...but, why exactly am I here? I remember a robbery, a fire, being kidnapped and then...nothing.", Liz said, finally finding her voice. "I know this may be very hard for you to comprehend but you have something that I need immediately, that was why I sent men to capture you and bring you here but unfortunately there was a robbery at that same moment and you were out cold." Liz listened attentively and when she paused Liz asked, "What exactly do I have that you need? I doubt I could have anything that will be valuable to you.", Liz paused before continuing, "You have money and anything you could ever want but I'm just..." Liz struggled to find the correct words and gestured vaguely. Maria Wimble walked closer and soon stood at the foot of the bed, "Think really hard. Do you remember having any form of red trinket. It is about the size of any normal necklace but it glows slightly brighter." Maria looked very serious so Liz assumed whatever she was looking for must be very important to her. Liz racked her brain. Red trinket... Size of a normal necklace.... Glows brighter..... An image popped into Elizabeth's mind. A younger version of her sitting in a garden surrounded by yellow and white flowers. Something glowing in the dirt. Liz's picked up the accessory and inspected it, a small necklace with a bright glowing red trinket. Liz looked at her reflection in the jewel and giggled. Her head had been distorted into an irregular organic shape. Liz looked at her reflection for a long time, then the jewel appeared to be glowing brighter. It slipped from her hands as she was startled. The jewel burst into bright light as Liz shielded her eyes. The light surrounded Liz before gently fading away. She looked for the remains of the trinket but it was no longer there. Back in the present, Liz then looked at her aunt and shrugged. "I barely have any ornaments or stuff like that. They're worth a fortune." Maria Wimble only narrowed her eyes, her anger visible on her face. "What do you mean you don't have it ?!", She raised her voice. Liz blinked as Maria Wimble whipped out a small tracking device out of her handbag and showed it to Liz. Indeed there was a small red dot exactly where Liz was sitting on he bed. Nothing made sense. Liz didn't have jewelry, so how did her tracking device show that whatever her aunt was looking for was with her? Liz leaned back against the bed, smiling faintly. "I think, your device is broken." Maria studied Liz carefully before she sighed and took a step back. She gave the two men a signal and they brought out small guns from where they were hiding in their cloaks and pointed them at her. Elizabeth's calm expression vanished as she slowly lifted her hands in surrender. She immediately recognized the red fluid in the guns container as they were sucked into the bullets. It was a sedative chemical, one that was able to knock someone out within seconds. The only thing that made that chemical dangerous was that it worked differently based on individual differences in genetics and personalities. Many are those who took the drug and never survived. The bullets themselves were not meant to hurt but it was the dosage of the chemical that hurt. Maria, however seemed perfectly calm. She looked at Liz for a moment too long before stepping out of the way. "Shoot."
