This was taken on First street in edmond oklahoma on 8/22/26 (lol), We were railfanning from 7am to 11am, and we came perfectly timed to see our first train of the day, a grain train, which is the one sitting behind the one of the two freights it had to wait for, the one in the image being a mixed freight heading northbound, the leader was a gevo with a sd70ace dpu at the end, the second train was another grain train with an sd70ace leader, they also gave me a really short horn blast. The main grain train that came first had an h2 dash 9 as and end dpu which was kinda cool. the second to last train of that day was an autorack train heading northbound on the siding track, they gave me a horn show of 3 blasts, they had 727 trailing as the second loco, 727 was an ex fakebonnet later painted into h3. It's a rarity to find original dash 9s from the late 90s, as they are either being sent and rebuilt as c6ms for NS and CN, or just flat out being scrapped or to sit in yards for decades on end. The final train of the day was a southbound intermodal, every car was just containers of mostly j.b. hunt, most likely being sent to houston, im guessing it was a shipment of basic goods. That was all of my first day out railfanning, hoping to do it again in the future.
comments are back, hofnarr or whatever is just an annoyance.
