︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵︵ Q1: What's your favourite genre/genres? A: YA fiction in general, but I especially love fantasy, East Asian historical fiction/fantasy, BL, and GL <3 Q2: Have you ever finished writing a story? A: I've finished writing a few short stories, but never anything of novel-length or any anthologies/poetry collections either. Q3: First person POV, second person POV, or third person POV? A: Gah this is so hard... I used to use first person more but lately I've been mostly writing in third person limited. Q4: Do you have a favourite author? If so, who? A: Not all of these people are novelists, two of them are artists more than anything, but my favorite storytellers are Alice Oseman, Hayao Miyazaki, and Kamome Shirahama. One of these days, as in after I turn 17 or 18, I'd love to start reading Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's works! Q5: Do you want to be a writer when you're older? A: Yes absolutely!!! Q6: Do you have any advice for writers? If so, what is it? A: Just. Keep. Writing. Writer's block is a myth; it's your perfectionism getting in the way of your creative vision. And make sure to study things like plot structure, characterization, grammar, or poetic form if you're a poet. Trust me, it helps so much. Q7: When it comes to writing, are you a perfectionist? A: Yes, but I'm trying to learn to let myself flow for the first draft, then edit later. Q8: Have you shared a story on scratch before? A: I haven't shared any narrative work, but I have a lot of poems shared. Q9: What's your favourite plot structure? (7 point plot structure, hero's journey plot structure, etc) A: I personally love the Save the Cat beat sheet! Q10: What's your inspiration? A: I love stories; they make me think deeper, feel more alive, wonder about possibilities, and take less things for granted. I want to be able to share this same ecstasy with others <3 Q11: Do you like making graphic novels/comics? A: I love reading graphic novels/comic/manga more than I like making them (since I'm not very confident in my art skills), but right now I'm working on a collaborative manga where I'm the primary writer and my friend is the primary artist! Q12: Poetry, or story writing? A: UGHHHH BOTH DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE Q13: Fiction or non-fiction? A: Fiction 100%, but non-fiction can be amazing as well Q14: What's your favourite book/series? A: It's a manga, but my current hyperfixation and absolute favorite fandom is Witch Hat Atelier. Besides that, I love Solitaire by Alice Oseman, Golden Terrace by Cang Wu Bin Bai, They Both D!e at The End by Adam Silvera, and She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan.
(cont.) Q15: Do you believe in writers block? A: No (see Q6) Q16: What about reader's block? A: I do in the sense that sometimes we're just plain too busy </3 Q17: Do you like putting references in your stories? (references to other books, a movie, songs, etc) A: I like making allusions to classic tales (my current WIP is loosely based off the tale of Icarus), but other than that, not really Q18: Do you like writing chapter books? A: Yeah! Q19: Realistic fiction or unrealistic fiction? A: Both to read, but unrealistic fiction to write Q20: Have you ever written a character based on someone in real life? A: I don't think so. It would personally make me feel weird lol, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it Q21: Do you give MBTI personality types to your characters? A: Sometimes yes!! Q22: Writing in a notebook or writing on google docs? A: Google Docs (typing feels way better to me) Q23: What do you think is the best thing for someone to do when they get writers block? A: Take a break. Do something else, don't think about writing. Then come back and write anything at all, whether or not it's utter crap. Q24: When did you realize you wanted to be a writer? A: I can't remember! Q25: Do you have a lot of OCs? A: Not a lot, but a fair amount. I don't count them lol Q26: Do you have a lot of stories you are writing? A: I have lots of ideas but I like to commit myself to one main project (I do fanfiction on the side hehe) Q27: What's the most difficult part of planning a story? A: Everything... or ig figuring out all the beats and ordering them in the best way? Q28: Do you do journaling? A: No but I should Q29: Do you write in one specific way/theme, or lots of different ways/themes? e.g. fantasy, third person, non-fiction, first person, second person, fiction, etc A: I like being varied Q30: Do you find it hard to write the first chapter/ prologue? A: That's actually the easiest part for me! But the middle... ah let's not talk about that Q31: Have you drawn your characters before? A: Yes, but I'm scared of committing to one design :') Q32: Have you roleplayed with your characters before? A: Not recently, but I used to with Warriors ocs Q33: Do you think you take way too long planning what to write instead of actually writing? A: YES ABSOLUTELY </33 Q34: What's your favourite part when editing? A: Looking back at my first draft with fresh eyes and being all "hey look at me I'm pretty good at this" Q35: What's your least favourite part when editing? A: Shuffling around different lines/paragraphs/scenes and trying to figure out the best way to put things Q36: How long have you been writing? A: Maybe 6 or so years?? Q37: Have you tried writing in a new way before? A: (not sure what this means) Q38: What, in your opinion, is the most fun theme to write about? (not genre. A theme is like war, coming of age, good vs evil, family, etc) A: I tend to gravitate towards themes of acceptance. Acceptance of self, acceptance of destiny, acceptance of love, etc. Q39: Have you written characters with sad backstories? A: All of them have sad backstories bro ;w; Q40: Have you ever written yourself in a story? A: No actually! Q41: Do you usually unintentionally make a side character more interesting than a main character? A: Yea I did that once..... so I made the side character the main character >:) Q42: Have you ever written a character as something other than a human? A: Yes! Q43: Have you ever written the main character as the villain before? A: Oo not yet but I've always wanted to Q44: What's your favourite things to put in stories? (things you personally find entertaining to read/write) A: Really endearing platonic relationships. Especially mentor/student or parent figure/child. As well as grumpy/sunshine dynamics <3 Q45: Have you written romance before? A: Yeah, even though I'm aromantic XD Q46: Do you put life lessons in your stories? A: Every time!! Q47: What's your favourite character from a book? A: OLRUGGIO FROM WITCH HAT ATELIER. Undoubtedly my favorite adorable scrunkly workaholic malewife Q48: Writing or drawing? A: Writing :) Q49: Writing or reading? A: ghsgjsgkjg..... Q50: Have you written a main character as the complete opposite of you before? A: It's hard to define "opposite", but my current WIP's main character is pretty darn different from me. ︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶︶
