Below will be all my research for it =) For those who don't know what that is, ASPD stands for Antisocial Personality Disorder and is an inherited trait from his father, Ballad. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⋆⋆↼ What is ASPD? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✮ ASPD, also known as sociopathy, is a mental health condition classified as a personality disorder. A personality disorder is a pattern of behavioral and inner experiences that stem from one's past and affects the way someone would interact with other people. ASPD can cause an individual to exploit others for personal gain, ignore right vs. wrong, and manipulate the feelings and emotions of others. People with ASPD will lack remorse and don't regret previous actions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✮ ASPD is a lifelong condition and affects about 1-4% of adults in the U.S. People with sociopathy will often lie and/or behave impulsively/violently, making them more likely to become criminals. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⋆⋆↼ Causes of ASPD ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✮ Personality is what makes you who you are. It is a combination of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that makes you unique. Often formed in early childhood, this is how an individual will view the world and can be affected by genetics or personal and past experiences. While what exactly causes ASPD isn't known, you are more likely to develop sociopathy if someone in your family has it (which is the case with Ode). There are also risk factors that can be observed in childhood that led to its development, such as an unsafe home life, history of mental conditions in families, a lowered educational outcome, spent time in jail/prison, and a diagnosis of conduct disorder as a child. (Content warning below, beware) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✮ Complications of ASPD can be neglect or abuse of close relationships, attempt of murder or harming others/themselves, trouble meeting responsibilities with work or education, risk of criminal activity and potential arrest, and possibly developing other mental conditions like depression or anxiety. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⋆⋆↼ Symptoms of ASPD ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀List acquired from Mayo Clinic ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✮ ASPD symptoms include feeling little to no guilt about harming others, not listening to right or wrong, being hostile, threatening, or aggressive, being unempathetic or disrespectful around others, feeling superior, and doing dangerous things without considering the safety of others or themselves. They also won't regret or feel remorse for past actions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✮ Signs of conduct disorder will usually arise before the age of fifteen. Examples are destruction of property, dishonesty, theft, aggression towards others, violation of rules, and even setting fires. Additionally, symptoms will vary from person to person. Signs of conduct disorder may be similar or regarded as different mental health conditions like ADHD, depression, and oppositional defiant disorder. According to Cleveland Clinic, conduct diagnosis can begin in early childhood, with treatments leading to a chance of behaviors not following them to adulthood. It also states that ASPD is "the worst between ages 20 to 40 and tend to improve after age 40". ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⋆⋆↼ How this will affect Odyssey ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✮ As a kit, this won't exactly take much of a toll on his life. He would have some violent tendencies, such as challenging others to fight, or acting a bit cold, but not much more until he's nearing apprenticeship. Once Ode is an apprentice, however, his ASPD will affect him more in ways such as using charm or cunning to manipulate others. During this time of his life, he would begin making a mental list of things he thinks is right and wrong. For example, he may believe that if someone is bullying others, he might try to fight them as means of getting them to stop. Lastly, Odi wouldn't feel regretful of his actions, believing that whoever he fought deserved it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✮ As an adult, Odyssey will be more prone to acting out. In his mind, he's following what he thinks is right, and preventing others from what he thinks is wrong. Odi might disrespect higher-ups, such as the leader or deputy, depending on if they fall under what he believes in. Once he gets older (probably around 40-50 moons), many of these impulses would start to fade with his age but not leave entirely. Around this time, he might start to feel guilty for things he did in the past.
