Doctor Riley looked down at the limp body of a dog, a beautiful tricolored purebred, a Bernese mountain dog. “There goes another,” she said. “It looks like we’ll have to get more.” Beside her, lab tech Nick took a note and rushed off. He alerted the others of their need, and lab tech Rob was assigned the task. He rushed off to the computer and put up a new advertisement: HAPPY HOMES FOR BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOGS. He had set the trap. All he had to do was wait for his next victim. “We can’t do this anymore, George!” Callie shouted to her husband. “I know, but where would we put him?” he responded in a strained tone. It had been his dream since childhood to own a Bernese mountain dog, but now one paired with a child was more than he and his wife’s financial state could handle. They would have to give the dog up. Rob stared at the application on the screen. He was lucky, getting a response within 24 hours. On top of it all, it seemed perfect. A couple in need of a home for a purebred Bernese mountain dog, and soon. He was sure they would be easy to fool, and that meant getting just what the lab needed. Callie greeted Doctor Riley firmly and introduced herself and Alberto, the dog she had to give up. They seated themselves as Callie read the contract over. She signed, and the fate of her dog was sealed. Doctor Riley tried hard to keep the wicked grin from spreading across her face. “Alberto here will have a good home with us.” That was the lie she had told many an owner. What was one more deceived? She led Alberto off to his new home, safely caged.
Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1374840156/ I’m making this story based off my past life as a Bernese mountain dog, though not all of the story is true. It is based off my experience. I will try to release chapters weekly. It might be daily, or a few times a week, depending on how much free time I have and how up for it I am.
