Mosesia had adopted an increasingly aggressive nationalist policy, accompanied by territorial claims and repeated border confrontations. What began as isolated clashes eventually escalated into the Southestern Border War. Dainamese forces launched a major counteroffensive, driving Mosesian forces away from Dainamese territory and severely weakening their ability to conduct large-scale attacks. Seeking to exploit Dainam's military commitments in the southwest, Jinzhao launched a new offensive along the northern border. The renewed conflict became known as the Sino-Dainamese War, with much of the initial fighting falling upon Dainam's local defense forces. Jinzhao's forces encountered local militias, provincial defense units, and Dainamese border guards, who were among the first to confront the invasion. These formations, often operating with limited heavy equipment and support, bore the initial weight of the fighting while regular Dainamese forces were still engaged against Mosesia. Their resistance slowed the Jinzhao advance and bought valuable time for Dainam to redeploy its main forces toward the northern frontier. What had begun as a campaign intended to exploit Dainam's distraction instead became another prolonged struggle. Jinzhao failed to achieve a decisive breakthrough, while Dainam gradually shifted additional forces northward and stabilized the front.
