Tall and willowy, no muscle to speak of. Used to dye his hair purple, but no longer can and is very mad about it. Ear and nose piercing; yearns for big, elaborate jewelry, but can only have small, subtle pieces. Previously dressed in very elaborate, over-the-top outfits with lots of lace, sequin, fur, and decoration, usually in purple, white, and black; absolutely despises the simple, dull clothes the Tributes must wear. ° . • ~~ ~~ ~ ~~ ~~ • . ° Arrogant, stuck-up, and selfish. Hates being told “no,” and is very used to his father pulling strings to get what he wants. Short temper, poor impulse control, and ignores consequences. Generally dislikes everyone until he’s decided they’re “worth his attention.” All around an absolutely miserable person to deal with for any extended period of time. Proficient at acting, blackmail, and forming connections. ° . • ~~ ~~ ~ ~~ ~~ • . ° Mettius was a fairly stereotypical child of the Capitol. He grew up wealthy, well-connected, and surrounded by everything he could ever want. His father Julianus is a successful energy broker in charge of much of the Capitol’s power grids, and has close ties with District 5; naturally, when it came time for the 100th Hunger Games, he wanted to make sure District 5 was well-suited to win. In a few underhanded moves, Julianus arranged a meeting with the District 5 Tributes to arrange sponsorships early; Mettius came along out of boredom, but the male Tribute caught his eye. Later, Mettius found him alone and promised him a guaranteed victory if he got involved with Mettius, but was turned down. Mettius was so upset at being rejected that he flew into an uncontrollable rage, and in the ensuing fight, VERY accidentally killed the Tribute with a blow to the head. Mettius expected his father to fix the situation and sweep it all away, but Julianus is absolutely furious with Mettius for risking such a dangerous scandal, and actually enacted consequences. As Mettius looked somewhat similar to the Tribute, and no one besides the other District 5 Tribute knew him, Mettius was forced to cut the purple from his hair, give up all his jewelry and expensive clothes, and take over the identity of the dead Tribute. Still, he expected his father to pull strings and give him an easy path to victory, but instead Julianus has completely abandoned him to the will of the Games as punishment, and he won't receive any sponsorship or benefits unless he "deserves them." Mettius has forced the other District 5 Tribute to keep his secret by threatening to sabotage her before and during the Game if she doesn’t cooperate.
