Her goal was to get across the Light Sea. Of course, that is not easy when you have big, light blue wings and a fancy wand. It was not easy when the whole world knew your name and hated it. Her companions also hated her, but they didn't know who she really was. She could hear them whispering about her in the back of the carriage, but she pretended to be very busy staring at the sunset and driving the horses. Her wings ached from being tucked carefully inside her cloak. The cloak was black with gold trim, another unusual thing. The cloak was tied at the front hastily and was hopefully concealing what most would call the horror inside. Her wand was another thing. It was dark blue, blueberry colored, in fact. She clutched it in her right hand, which was also hidden under the cloak. She could not carry it in her pocket, for she had sworn to protect it with her life; as any good mage should. And also if it was kept in her pocket, it could fall out. And if another mage just happened to stumble upon it...well, it was no small thing. They could combine her wand and their wand or staff, ultimately doubling the strength in whatever power they had. She knew because she had seen it with her own eyes. And maybe once, she had wished she could do it herself... But not anymore. That's what people didn't understand about her. She didn't want to use her magic to take over the world, as everyone assumed mages did. She wanted to escape from her mistakes, the lies that were told about her, and the life she hoped to never live again. And to do that, she had to cross the Light Sea.
