This below is the lore The game takes place in a secret underground lab called the Horizon Research Facility, specifically down on Sub-Level 4. They’ve been doing these shady experiments to weaponize monsters, and they found this insane apex predator made out of pure dark matter. It’s completely blind, but it has crazy good hearing so it can hear your heartbeat from a mile away. They codenamed it "The Resonance." Normal containment doesn't work on it because even the tiniest noise, like a flickering lightbulb or someone breathing, makes it snap and go into full hunting mode. That’s where you come in. You play as Subject 401. You’re not just some random test subject they kidnapped; you were basically engineered from birth for this exact mission. They modded your body to have completely silent footsteps, a super quiet breathing pattern, and cybernetic implants to track your vitals. You’re the only person alive who can actually walk around this thing without instantly triggering it. But then everything goes wrong. The lab has a massive power outage, and the electric fences keeping The Resonance asleep shut off. The main facility computer goes into panic mode and locks down the entire sub-level so the monster can't escape to the surface. Since you're already down there, the scientists lock you inside the actual containment room with it. Right before the comms cut out, your boss tells you: "Do not speak. Do not gasp. Do not scream. If it hears you, it's over." Now you have to find a way out while being completely silent in real life.
