After the death of king Dorwulf a civil war has broken out (for the full start of the civil war read my sign up). Prince Jurnt leads the few lands still loyal to the old dynasty these lands in compass the coastal port cities, and the Lundar region. This land is not particularly populated or arable, but control of the ports gives the crown prince lots of money. He has also retained full control over the powerful Fierøn navy. The main rival of the prince is his cousin, Lord Gunderleif, who contests the throne and has already had himself crowned himself King Gunderleif. Gunderleif has the support of the lords of southern Fierøn, and the western Yarnak lords (not the original Yarnak people, descendants of lords appointed after Fierøn conquered the remains of the old union (orange on map)). Most of the army has defected to his side, but his forces lack the artillery necessary to attack the well defended northern cities. He managed to take the capital by launching his rebellion from it when Jurnt was in the north overseeing the navy. Taking the capital has given him a giant advantage, and allowed him to seize the entire Fier region (the first lands of the Fierøn Kingdom). He directly ruled this region, while allocating the rest of Fierøn to his other lords, he has promised the Yarnak lords more autonomy as they are very powerful, fielding large armies since they are often putting down native Yarnak rebellions. Across the lands of the lords peasant rebellions have sprung as without the central government to keep them in check, the lords have been abusing their power setting huge rent sums and evicting tenants who can’t pay (in coin or crop). These rebels are in a tense alliance with Jurnt, he has promised to accept their terms, some of which are considered outrageous, such as tax rates set by the populace. Jurnt is only keeping them an ally as long as he has to.
