I felt a stab of pride; this was MY kingdom. And it was beautiful in its own way. My orange hair tickled my chin as I laid my head back, feeling the cold metal crown soothe my forehead. I ran my hands through it, detangling it before the first day of school - my stomach was still doing nervous backflips; I'd never been to school before! Usually I was just taught at home by Guffo, the palace elder - he loves me, my knowledge, although definitely NOT my sense of fashion. I sniggered to myself, replaying the scene that morning where he'd tried to convince me to wear something 'civilised'. "You are the princess!" Guffo had cried, when he saw what I'd wore for school. "You must set a good example, and these clothes are simply not appropriate for a girl of your intelligence and beauty! Wear something civilised, I implore you, Midna!" Giggling, I shoved the conversation to the back of my mind; I had MUCH more pressing worries. What if no one in class liked me? What if I made some horrible, unknown mistake and the teacher expelled me on the first day? That would be SO embarrassing! I fiddled with the silver chain hanging from my crown, nervously running through the worst possible options in my head. I didn't have any friends; would people pick on me? Would they REALLY bully a princess? Would I even make any friends, or would people just think of me as a spoilt, stuck-up twili? The shiny black car belonging to my chauffeur pulled to a halt, as Guffo gestured for me to step out. I hoisted my bag higher up my shoulders, gulping in deep breaths of fresh twilight air. 'It will all be okay,' I thought, 'You're the princess; what can they do to you? And, plus, you've more authority than any old twili who happens to pick on you!' I stood up straight, capturing that thought and holding it hostage in my mind. 'Just be nice,' I told myself firmly, 'The worst that will happen is that THEY'RE not very nice, so you can make better friends. You don't have to be in everyone's good books!' So I strode pretend-confidently down the twilit stone path towards Midnight Senior, taking deep breaths to steady my nerves. And when the dark oak door of my new school loomed in front of me, I gathered my wits and stepped inside. Chapter 2: ⚝ Hey! I hope you enjoyed the first chapter of my Twilight fanfic, I've been planning it for quite a while. Please comment, I would love to hear your views - don't hesitate if you think I could improve! ↬ This story is set in a timeline that splits off from the Twilight Princess one, where the Twilight Realm CAN be accessed by those from the light. Link stays in the Twilight Realm in this timeline. These are further incarnations of Midna and Link, who do not know about each other at first.
