Anything unfamiliar, Junebug hated. Especially at home where she was the safest she could ever be. Home was everything to her. She was comfortable here and happy and safe. At least she was supposed to be. That night June was settled down in her bed, tucked cozily into the fluffy fur of the nest. Her paws were tucked around her dog stuffie, head pressed against the back of its neck. She snoozed quietly in the dark of night, little light filtering into the room. It gradually lightened, hot, golden light spilling into the room. Her nose twitched and the little cat stretched her paws forward, stretching. Something crashed to ground loudly and June jumped a mile, fur standing up. Her nose felt like it was burning inside of it with the weird smells that coated it. Her eyes were wide, glancing around in the hazy, foggy air in the house and at the source of the bright light. It wasn't day yet, no. That was something else. She had no idea what. But it was something... odd. She backed up, keeping to the back of her nest and away from where the hot orange stuff was creeping across the walls and around the room. She grabbed her stuffie, holding it fearfully as she stuffed her hurting sensitive nose into its fur to muffle the smell. What was /that/? She watched it as the air grew foggier and the hot creature ate at the things. She didn't know what to do here. She was torn about running or about trying to protect her home from the evil monster eating it. When she choked on the air and coughed she made up her mind. June got up and put her stuffie on her back, turning and fleeing from the thing as her nest got caught in the hotness. She ran across the burning ground, paws hissing at her as pain seeped into them. She ran to the back of her home, launching herself out of the back flap of her door, nearly dropping her plushie on the way through but grabbing and pulling it through before the monster could get it too. She ran out to the grass of her yard, tripping over the ground as she coughed, trying to get away from the house coated in an evil orangey color. At some point she'd started crying, her hurting eyes watered. She got to the fence gate, shoving her plushie through the chain link and trying to shove herself through too. She struggled, trying to fit herself through a hole that was way too small. She fell back from it after a bit, falling onto the grass. She looked back to her home, where she'd lived her whole life. She'd always thought it was the greatest, safest place in the world. It didn't look too safe now. Was anywhere really safe? She looked away, tears still in her eyes. She turned and ran to the hole she'd dug under the fence that she never dared use. She slid under, squeezing herself through the tunnel. She came out on the other side and ran back over to Doge, the plush she'd always had with her. She grabbed it again, tucking it over her back with its paws tucked under her neckerchief. Then she ran. She ignored the scorching in her paws and the burning in her lungs and eyes. She simply ran.
I'm forcefully kicking Junebug out of the twolegplace. Now she gets to be sad and be a loner.
