Here's the in-universe context: Buena Vista RKO, or BV-RKO, was founded in 2019 and is the result of the Buena Vista (formerly The Walt Disney Company) and RKO Pictures merger attempting to put the latter back into the spotlight. Two years after the merger, the Disney channels would start to go through a massive overhaul... Or should I just say "channel" for that matter? In 2020, sister channels Disney Junior and Disney XD were moved onto the base channel as 2-hour blocks (but the latter was eventually re-launched as its own channel). --- Details: - Disney Channel: Main/base channel (if not obvious) for the entire family, first to be hit by the re-brand and in mid-2021. Mainly airs live-action series, a few of which originate from when the channel went by THE Disney Channel in the 1980s and 1990s. Also airs original movie under the "Disney Movies" label. The new branding is still targeted towards everyone, but is much more simple and contemporary. - Disney Jr.: Morning block for toddlers and young children, hit by the re-brand in mid-2022. Some older series from the channel/block, mostly from late when it was known as Playhouse Disney, have returned to air. The new branding can come of as less stimming and more cuddley. - Disney XD: Sister channel for pre-teens and teenagers, last to be hit by the re-brand and in early 2023. Only airs animated series, some of which originate from 1 Saturday Morning/1 Too and Jetix. The branding is not as "rad" or as boy-oriented as it was previously, as it is now intended to appeal to the whole teen spectrum.
