see you again if no one would ever see you again what would happen then? tell me... why would we only be ourselves if no one would see us again? if no one would ever see you again would you really try so hard? to fit into impossible standards would you let yourself break into shards? if no one would ever see you again would you care about the way you look? let yourself hate the acne on your face or would you take back the happiness they took? if no one would ever see you again would you pick up that mascara and lipstick? cover up the real you and starve yourself until you're sick? if no one would ever see you again would you care about the way you dress? if there's no one there to name all of your flaws who would you be trying to impress? if no one would ever see you again would you really care? letting yourself suffer the pain of fitting in would you, even when no one's there? if no one would ever see you again would this world be filled with judgement and pain? tell me, why do we care about what others think, and let them put out our flame with rain? even if people see you again dance like no one's watching you sing out loud and let no one blow out your light don't let anyone turn your days blue even if people see you again eat whatever you desire don't let these haters tell you who you are feed your inner fire even if people see you again let the child inside you free don't change the way you look for someone be whoever you want to be even if people see you again bring the real you out of your den be yourself and block out the lies society tells you live your life like no one would ever see you again.
author's note ~ "see you again" is a poem i wrote because i struggle a lot with overthinking, and always worry about how others see me. writing this helped me open my eyes and realize i need to stop caring about how people perceive me. i'm still on this journey of self-healing, but i hope this poem helps at least one person like me <3
