UPDATES + EXPLANTATION IN THE CREDITS ___________________________________________ I'm looking for advice from pet bird owners who know how to make birds happier and well cared for. I've already started looking after them more. Just tell me what I should do, and what to improve on! ___________________________________________ THINGS I COULDN'T DO FOR THEM (so far at least): Someone suggested I use metal containers for their food and water, but all of the ones I could find I'm afraid they will nest in, so... Someone also said I should let the out of their cages, but that's kinda hard for both me and the birds, since they always fly to places I can't reach, and they're so stubborn, it's hard to get them back into the cages. They also poo everywhere- ___________________________________________ THINGS I AM DOING FOR THEM RIGHT NOW: - Giving them fresh food and water - Cleaning the food/water containers - Current food brand: I forgot, I have to check. Probably something standard. - I sometimes give them dandelion leaves and millet ___________________________________________ THINGS THE FINCHES HAVE: ===== TOP CAGE (popularity of one male bird): - It is a cube-ish shaped cage -Two smooth dowels, and one that is more natural - Little plastic perch with toy bells that don't work (it came with the cage when we bought it). He doesn't use it anymore. -Foraging toy (tangled ball thing with paper scraps in it) - It used to have a nest, but we threw it out - One food container, water for drinking, water for bathing (sometimes) - Cuttlebone ===== BOTTOM CAGE (popularity of 3 males, and 3 females): - Horizontal flight cage - Multiple smooth dowels, multiple varied natural perches -Foraging toy (Hanging boxes with small openings you can put paper or treats inside) - 4 food containers (some are smaller than others), 3 water sources for drinking, 1 water source for bathing (sometimes) ___________________________________________ Well, I believe that's it! I'm (still) waiting for any advice ___________________________________________ Photos taken by @BLOOPY_BIRB
So, I've had pet zebra finches for a while. I've always wanted pet birds since I was very young, and then I got finches for Christmas three years ago. Though they're a part of my life now, I still half can't believe I actually have pet birds. Though I love them very much, it really hurts me to say that my family and I have been sorta neglecting them... My parents are busy with other things, and I guess I've never took that great of care for them.
