DEFCON 2 represents an extraordinary escalation in military readiness. Officials say the move is intended to protect ONIWARRI’s Vossium infrastructure from further attacks. But the government is now facing a much larger question: Is S.O.R.A. preparing to attack Vossium facilities directly? The question comes after the deadly attack at IIOS Harbor 221 in Sangria. That incident left numerous people dead after a massive electrical and electromagnetic disturbance crippled the harbor’s systems. The NTS Stone, a commercial vessel carrying food products and mechanical components, lost navigation and communication systems before suffering a catastrophic explosion and sinking. Harbor infrastructure subsequently failed across the facility. At the time, authorities described the cause as unknown. Investigators now believe the incident may have been the first confirmed operation carried out by SORA. And now, less than a day later, the world’s most important Vossium research facility has been destroyed. Officials are investigating whether the two events are connected. I’m standing outside the secure medical facility where Dr. Evelyn Carter is being treated. Security around the building has increased dramatically over the last several hours. Authorities have refused to say whether Dr. Carter has regained consciousness. What we do know is that she is currently the highest-ranking surviving member of ONIWARRI’s Vossium scientific program. The government has also confirmed that several scientists from the Pacific Standard were among those killed. Their deaths are expected to have major consequences for the international Vossium research partnership. Meanwhile, the search for Dr. Halvek continues. Officials have distributed his photograph and identification information to security agencies across ONIWARRI. Authorities have warned the public not to approach him.
