Pine trees Nightfall, they/he/it/star Nightfall wandered through the pine tree forest that resided south of the lake. They were looking for a good place to build a den. "Can't be too close to water, has to be big enough for at least three cats, not too close to clans, not too close to kittypets," they mumbled out loud, "Can't be by the thunder paths, have to be not in the middle of no where. Ugh so much." Star sighed as they continued walking. He did remember a fallen pine tree in a good place. It decided to look for that tree. They yawned as they gazed at the bits of blue sky that peaked through the trees. It was around sunhigh, yet he still felt tired. Their anxiety had felt worse recently. Its paws ached more than usual. He wondered if others felt as much anxiety as they did. Star shook their head, he was out in the forest to look for a place to build a den, not contemplate their anxiety. They stopped as it stood in front of the fallen tree. He had found exactly what they were looking for. "Perfect!" it chirped as they padded closer. They jumped onto the truck of the fallen pine, testing how sturdy it was. Star shifted their weight, making sure it was safe. Once satisfied, they jumped down. He padded off to gather large branches. They dragged back any large stick it could find and piled them under the tree. Star stuck pine needles and bits of moss between the sticks. Night stepped back and observed their work. It was happy with the exterior of the den, now they had to do the interior. They collected as much soft moss as they could find and lined the inside. He chewed on his fur as they realized how hungry they had gotten. It groaned as they ran off to find prey. Star noticed a rabbit and crouched down. They lunged forward, easily catching the small animal. He removed the fur and set the fluff aside. They ate quickly, eager to return and finish the den. He stood up and stretched their legs as it looked up at the sky. The sky had begun to get hazy with orange and red hues. Star sighed as they picked up the fur and returned to the den. They lined the three nests with the soft rabbit fur. He padded outside of the den and sat down. It gently grabbed three of the green primroses that had been resting on his back, saving one for later. Star placed the flowers above the entrance of the den. They hoped Weevilbrook would like the flowers. He smiled as they padded back into the den. The sun had fully set, engulfing the forest in darkness. Night curled up in one of the nests and closed their eyes. He was excited to show bug the den they had built. Star breathed slowly, falling asleep. // end! // wowwee a srp that isn't sad for once! i like this one a lot :) also drew a background for once, really proud of it :D writing + art by me Weevilbrook belongs to
