Backstory: The first sound that Owlkit heard wasn't his mother's caring mew, but the haunting echoes of long-forgotten spirits before the shadow of an owl swept before him-- only to be saved by his father. It seemed as though Owlkit was always in a trance, and when he started his apprenticeship with the name of Owlpaw, he seemed to be in the barrier between StarClan and the living world. On the day of his first Gathering, before any cat even opened their mouths, stormy clouds veiled the full moon. Then, a medicine cat stepped forward and some other being seemed to speak through her: "The one with the spirit of an owl will rise and rule the darkness forever." The owl that tried to swoop up Owlkit right after he was born descended down that very moment and carried Owlpaw away. Instead of dropping in to StarClan, he got carried to the Dark Forest, the place he was destined to rule until he faded away for good. Though he hadn't even got his warrior name, the Dark Forest cats all called him "Owlstar".
