"And no wonder, for even Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." - 2 Corinthians 11:14 (NIV) I know it has been a long wait, but I am off my hiatus. I was extremely, extremely busy the majority of summer dealing with college preparation, so I had little time to work on the REQUIEM MORTIS UPDATE. But now that I have time, I should probably lock in :D By the end of August (or not maybe September lmao) you can expect: - Full release of Kite's Reanimated update - A bit of a lore overhaul - Next VHS tape (Sparky Movement Diagnostics) - News about Kite's Reanimated 2: JR's See you then! DAILY HERALD, SEPT/OCT 1982 "Serving Our Community Since 1923" BODY DISCOVERED IN RESTURANT'S VENTS, PUBLIC DIVIDED By Jimmy Kinney, Staff Writer FAIRHAVEN, CO — A somber mood has settled over our community this weekend following the discovery of a local teenager's body inside the ventilation system of Kite's Burgers & Fries early Saturday morning. Jerry Monroe, 16, a sophomore at Fairhaven High School, was found by restaurant staff after patrons complained of an unusual odor emanating from the dining area's overhead vents. According to police reports, Monroe had apparently entered the establishment after hours, though the circumstances surrounding his presence remain unclear. "It's just a terrible, terrible accident," said Police Chief Albert Wozniak in a press conference Saturday afternoon. "There is no evidence of foul play. We believe the young man became trapped while exploring the ventilation system and succumbed to his injuries." However, sources close to the investigation have raised questions about the official narrative. Monroe, described by classmates as "adventurous" and "always up for a dare," was allegedly participating in a late-night exploration of the restaurant, which has been the subject of persistent rumors regarding unusual activity after hours. "They said the mascots move at night," said a Fairhaven High student who wished to remain anonymous. "Kids have been daring each other to sneak in for years. Jerry just... Jerry actually did it." The discovery has reignited painful memories for a community still healing from the Great Abduction of 1979, in which five local children disappeared. Four of those children — ████ Williams, ██████ Jennings, and siblings ██████ and ██████ Brooks — remain missing to this day. The body of ███████ Fitzgerald, 10, was recovered in Nebraska in 1980. The so-called "Mascot Killer" was linked to those disappearances, though former Playtime Entertainment executive Harley Jones was convicted on related charges in 1981 and is currently serving a life sentence at Colorado State Penitentiary. When pressed on potential connections to the prior tragedies, Chief Wozniak was adamant. "This is not related to the events of 1979. That case is closed. Harley Jones is behind bars. What happened to young Mr. Monroe is a tragic accident and nothing more." But not everyone is convinced. "It's too much of a coincidence," said local resident Margaret Fitzgerald, whose daughter ███████ was the only victim of the Great Abduction to be recovered. "That restaurant has been nothing but pain for this town. How many more children have to die before someone does something?" Fitzgerald's husband, retired Sr. Detective Jack Fitzgerald, declined to comment. He was awarded a medal of valor by the mayor's office last year for his role in the investigation that led to Jones's conviction. Playtime Entertainment LLC, the parent company of Kite's Burgers & Fries, released a statement Saturday evening expressing condolences to the Monroe family. "We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss," the statement read. "The safety of our guests and staff is our utmost priority. We are cooperating fully with local authorities and have elected to close the Fairhaven location temporarily out of respect for the Monroe family and to conduct a thorough internal review of our security protocols." The company did not respond to questions regarding the restaurant's future or the status of its employees. Julius Ludwig, branch manager of the flagship Kite's location, was not available for comment. Calls to Playtime's corporate offices in Denver were not returned
