It should, but I haven't tested everything. Please don't mind any bugs/glitches, I didn't have much time to alpha test. Being so honest, the moment I saw this DMC, I sorta had the idea to make a visual novel. WHICH WAS STUPID! BUT, I've wanted to make one on scratch for awhile. The thing is every time I try to think of a small idea, that I can manageably execute as practice, I end up expanding the idea so much it becomes a massive several chapter story that'd take a million years to make T0T Something like this, a competition with a deadline, I thought would hopefully stop my hyperactive brain from making an entire novel, since, yknow, this literally isn't my novel T>T I kept the idea in my back pocket (but sorta forgot about it) as I went through school, Artfight prep, Artfight itself and I remembered "Hey Scratch exists" about a week ago. Lo and behold I see the deadline's been extended. I barely have a week to make an entry before the deadline. Rather than make a drawing, be done with it, and focus on getting ready for college (I'm moving on the 16th >:D) I decide to commit to making a VN! ...yeah. I don't get it either. I wrote the script in the 15 minutes on my way to church (so if there's grammatical errors or its just cringe, pls spare me) and did all the art and code in any spare time I had. Spare time being my sleep time. Its currently 3:34am as I'm writing this. ANYWAY I DID IT!! I do have a few nitpicks, like despite this being a 'DRAW my character' contest, I really had to simplify the art to finish any of the assets in time. So not my best work. I also wanted this to have more interactive gameplay with some character choices. And I really wish I had time to give each character more than one static pose, only changing the facial expression between sprites feels so dull, but yknow, deadlines. Also I couldn't fit Nat in the plot I had made, and there was no way I was making the script any longer, so sorry bud. Maybe next time? OH AND SCRATCH RUINS THE QUALITY OF EVERYTHING!! I was able to cope with Theo, since he's in a video game, which have pixels, BUT THEY TOOK KOFI'S FRECKLES T0T But other than that I'm really proud! Especially with the limited time and I learned the valuable lesson of "maybe I should just learn Godot, coding on Scratch is such a hassle T0T" It was fun, don't get me wrong. But this was a relatively simple idea and it took a week of rushed art and story. And I only managed it so fast because I've made a text engine before for an old (canceled) fan project I made with my friends. (Try to find that demo, bet you can't!) Imagine how long a 10-15k story with more characters and gameplay mechanics would take to write, draw sprites, backgrounds, other assets, and code. It'd lag so bad T0T UNRELATED YAPPING OVER!! I hope you like my entry! And I hope I wrote the characters semi-accurately! I did a bit of account deep-diving to try to make the writing as accurate as possible, and did my best with the crumbs I gained. Consider this your first fanfic! Unless its not your first. Then your 2nd? Or 3rd? Or just a fanfic.
