Is This Who I’m Meant To Be? (Not actual title, just the name for the prologue) People keep talking about 'normal' like it's the prize at the end of some game. Prom. Sleepovers. Matching bracelets. Sounds nice, I guess. Makes me want to crawl out of my skin, though. ‘Normal’ tries to change who you are. ‘Normal’ makes you define who you really aren’t. Auntie Lena helped me connect to that type of perspective; I thank her for that. I mean, she’s the one who raised me my whole life; how could I not? She gave me a life, a home, affection. Not like my mother, no. My mother died before I could open my eyes to the world. Instead, I opened my eyes to see Auntie. Without her, I would’ve been left in the dust. But my point still stands: there’s no such thing as normal. You just have to adapt to your surroundings. Sure, you probably adapted with a new phone and a signature clothing aesthetic. But me, I adapted with an arena and a weapon. Before the Nexus, the hotel staff sighed whenever I walked into the lobby. Someone always found a broom for me to hold or an errand to keep me out of the way. Now, I’m the whole face of the Nexus. /////// SO, uh yeah, this is the prologue. I don't really have an official name for my fanfic :') I'M SO EXCITED TO POST THE REST AA!
EDIT: ATTENTION, I'll be posting the fanfic in ao3 from now on, my username is V0N_R7AN
