It was seven days since the fire. Seven days since she and Thalassa had started camping out at the abandoned shrine. Seven days since she had last seen Dhurke. And apparently, seven days was enough time for the universe to decide she hadn't suffered enough. Amara doubled over and held a hand to her chest. “...Thalassa?” Thalassa looked up from the bundle of clothes she had packed for her travels with Jove that she was now folding. "Yes?" "I might have forgotten to tell you about this..." Thalassa tensed. "About what?" "Before the fire---" Amara interrupted herself with a scream worthy of a murder victim. Thalassa dropped the shirt she was folding. "Amara?!" Amara sucked in a sharp breath, gripping the edge of the old shrine table. “I think I'm having the baby.” Thalassa simply stared at her. Amara stared back. Neither of them moved. “...You have a baby?” “Yes!" "So you were a week away from your due date and you didn't even tell me?!" "I was going to tell you eventually!" Amara cried. "I thought it would come later!" Another scream. Amara's knees buckled. The first contraction. Thalassa's hands started to shake as she put one on Amara's shoulder. "Amara. We're going to get through this together." she said, trying to copy the demeanor of her midwife. (Amara gives birth to Nahyuta but Thalassa fills Dhurke's role)
