remember Caleb and Sean well get ready for Caleb and Sean but less boring ! yup still working on sean's parents idk how to draw them,, anyway. Caleb. Carla (43) and Cash (41) have a somewhat rocky marriage, but it's stood strong for a while and they're both good, solid taxpayers. Carla's mother, Candace (64) is struggling with aging and just mental health in general, so the two are trying to help out with Candace while simultaneously handling their son, Caleb. The family moved out of Colorado late into Caleb's eighth grade year to be closer to Candace and the rest of their family in Ohio. Safe to say Caleb isn't the most happy with it, but he understands that it isn't about him and wants his grandmother to get better. While moving in, Cash got an email from an old friend that he'd intended to forget about. He blocked him, but the email stayed in his head and he started trying to juggle questions about his sexuality as well as keeping Candace in check. Carla obviously noticed her husband was a little out of it, so she asked him about it, to which he had no verbal response and she decided to ignore it despite her concerns. Cash picks up smoking (which Carla hates and was very adamant that he quit before Caleb was born) and Caleb catches him on the porch at night when both of them are unable to sleep. They have a conversation about Candace and then it delves into the one personal problem that they're both struggling with but neither of them wants to actually talk about it. Caleb has never seen his father cry until this point and it becomes clear to him that his situation at home is much less set in stone than he thought. Cash finds it in himself to tell Carla he's bisexual, of which she's very supportive, but the realization and contemplating make him wonder if he's even still in love with Carla, all while getting closer with one of his male coworkers. Carla notices his hesitance to show her affection and starts worrying about his loyalty to her, but brushes it away quickly and replaces it with worrying about whether or not their relationship is worth saving. Neither of them argue with each other often but they become more and more distant and focused on Candace, whose mental health is still deteriorating, and at the moment, it seems like everyone's is. Eventually Carla actually asks Cash about his feelings towards her and he admits that he doesn't really know what's going on at the moment. They don't officially divorce and no one moves out, but they let Caleb know that the relationship isn't working and try to convince him that helping Candace is really the only thing that requires attention right now. Luckily, Cash secures himself an apartment near Candace so he can still help out with his technical mother-in-law and keep in touch with Caleb, who is pretending that the separation doesn't bother him even though it's eating him up inside. Cash also secures himself a relationship with said coworker at a work event, so that's nice. Carla doesn't like this coworker guy, not because of jealousy (even though they do both have complicated feelings about each other) but because he "doesn't have tattoos but looks like he's supposed to have tattoos" and "isn't his spit venomous or something how do you make out" which forces Chase to explain to his very-not-nerdy ex-wife the technicalities of komodo dragon saliva and also ask her not to ask such personal stuff. Anyway after this all goes down, Chase and Carla are feeling way better and Caleb is feeling way way worse so he starts spending more time at Sean's to get away from it, which goes unnoticed because Candace is still having problems and everyone is trying to take care of her.
