DIZ’S ORIGIN STORY (written by @DisneyNerd26) Part 5: The Party (Music: A Million Dreams - P!nk) Soon, they’d finished decorating, and party guests had flooded Lena’s house. The party was in full swing before the triplets decided to sit back and enjoy what they had accomplished. Louie started to walk over to a little table Dewey had claimed, with a plate of food, when he realized Huey wasn’t with him. He looked back to see Huey talking to Diz, who’s eyes had lit up. She followed Huey to the table, setting her food plate beside Louie’s. “So… I’m kinda getting Webby vibes here, you know so much about us, and we know nothing about you. Anything off jump we need to know?” Dewey asked, meeting her eyes. “As far as I’m aware, I don’t think so.” Diz said with a shrug, ineptly stabbing at fruit with her fork. Finally, she looked around and picked it up in her fingers, shoving it in her mouth. “None of you saw that.” She hissed, making the boys laugh. “How old are you?” Huey asked, and Diz’s eyes twinkled. “16. Just like you guys. I’m just still lacking coordination in this body… Not that I’m the most graceful as a ‘fleshy creature’ either.” She winked at him and he blushed. “Again, I’m sorry for everything Diz. I wish there was some way to fix what I did.” Huey sighed, and Diz reached across the table to pat his hand. “I told Mrs. Goldie this earlier. In my mind, I’m still not certain this isn’t an elaborate oneiric vision. And as for tonight, I refuse to think of this as any more than that. I’m going to enjoy hanging with y'all, have a good time now, and figure out the rest tomorrow." She explained, eyes intense. "A what kinda vision?" Dewey and Louie blurted in sync, and Huey just smiled. "An oneiric vision. A dream." He clarified, melting into the table. "Alright then Diz, let's get some people on the dance floor." Dewey walked around the table to offer her his hand. “I just told you I don't have any coordination yet! It'll look like that time you danced with Glomgold! I swear!" Diz protested, shaking her head vigorously. "That was in the show too?!" Louie cackled, grinning at his brother. “Don't worry. I'll go slow and easy, just for you." Dewey insisted, scooping her hand up into his with a smirk. "Okay..." She murmured with a skeptical look. “Can you hold my cane please?" Louie took the cane from Diz, watching as Dewey gripped her hand and lead her out to the dance floor. Dewey took both of her hands in his, singing along to the music and dancing her around in circles, making her laugh. Louie just rolled his eyes, chuckling softly. His eyes drifted to Lena on the dance floor with Webby and Violet, and he sighed deeply. “Why don’t you ask her to dance?” Huey asked softly, frowning at him. “I’m not over-confident and impulsive, I can’t just jump in head first like Dewey.” Louie protested. As the song lead back up to the chorus, Louie heard loud laughter. “Dewey! No!” Diz cried, giggling. They both turned to see Dewey drawing Diz in and out, spinning her around in circles, both beaming, laughing and singing along as others joined them on the dance floor. “C’mon. We can dance too you know.” Huey suggested, offering Louie his hand. “Fine. I guess for the end at least.” Louie puffed, taking Huey’s hand and letting his brother drag him out to the floor near their crew. Dewey and Diz both looked up at them, opening up their hands to form a dance square. They all swung their hands, stepping in and out the square to the beat, spinning all the while, grinning at each other, their friends laughing and cheering. They released their hands as the song faded out, Dewey grabbing Diz by the wrist to twirl her, Louie, Huey, and the whole group applauding them. “Okay okay, can we finish eating now?” Diz asked breathlessly, and they all laughed, walking back to the table. Waiting there was Boyd Gearloose, a cognizant android, and a close friend of the triplets. “Hi there. I’m Boyd, a definitely real boy. What’s your name?” He extended a hand to Diz, and she shook it firmly. “I’m Diz McCallister. I’m from another dimension.” She said with a broad smile, and he looked puzzled. “Solego’s circuit vortex. Dr. Waddlemeyer was finally brought home, and I was dragged along by accident before it self-destructed.” She explained, and his eyes widened. “Oh! I’m sorry to hear that. Will I be seeing you around then?” He asked, and Diz bit at her lip. “I think so, as long as this isn’t still a dream.” Huey suddenly leaned in and whispered something to her, making her giggle and nod. Dewey slipped over to Boyd’s side, leaning up to whisper something into his ear. Boyd beamed, nodding. “Would you like to dance?” Boyd asked as a slow song began, and Diz cast a glance at Huey, before looking back at the android. “Sure. Just go easy on me, Boyd. Nothing too complex. Still adjusting to this body!” She grabbed his hand and he nodded with a laugh. “Will do.”
“Bro, a robot just effectively beat you to asking a girl to dance.” Dewey hissed to Louie, who growled. “Go dance with Lena, don’t let him show you up!” He poked at Louie’s chest. “Okay. I’m going.” Louie said firmly, shoving his hands in his pockets and walking over to Lena. Huey, Dewey, Webby, even Violet, all got quiet, turning to watch him. Louie took a deep breath before reaching out to touch her shoulder. “Hey.” “Hey- what’s up?” Lena cocked her head at him. “Ha, ha, uh… Would you like to dance? With me?” Lena reddened, biting her lip before whispering, “I’m really not a good slow dancer Louie.” His eyes brightened and he leaned closer to her. “I’m not either. I’ll make you look good.” “Louie, you conning me?” She questioned and he burst into laughter. “No, no! Not this time. I’m really a bad dancer.” Dewey grinned over at them, shaking his head. “I can affirm that.” Dewey called, and Louie blushed like fire, gesturing over at Dewey. “See?” “Okay…” Lena murmured, reaching out to take his hand and walking out onto the dance floor. Huey watched intently, the two of them awkwardly looking around at the group, before Louie finally looped his arms around Lena’s back, and she put her arms around his neck, gently swaying back and forth to the music. “Yeah! It worked!” Dewey cheered, clapping Huey on the back before hugging him. The group all laughed and cheered, shaking hands and hugging each other. “It worked!” Diz cried excitedly, running back over with Boyd. “We just conned the conman!” “Sure did!” Webby cheered, embracing her. “I knew he couldn’t stand for a robot outdoing him.” Huey pounded his fist into his palm, grinning. “If you don’t mind Diz- Violet, would you like to dance with me?” Boyd asked shyly, looking at the girl standing beside Webby. “Of course.” Violet’s cheeks colored, and she took Boyd’s hand, letting him lead her out onto the dance floor. “So… Leaves the four of us, Huh?” Diz chuckled, looking to Webby, Dewey, and Huey. “Actually, it leaves the two of you.” Webby murmured with a mischievous laugh, grabbing Dewey by the wrist and slowly backing up before disappearing into the crowd. Another slow song started, but none of the gang returned. The two looked at each other, Huey chanting the Junior Woodchuck Guidebook proper procedure over and over in his head. “So… Would you like to dance?” He finally puffed, holding out his now sweating palm out to her, and Diz smirked at him. “The JWG has a proper way to ask a girl to dance?” She questioned, and he felt his face turn to fire. “I’m messing with you. C’mon.” She grabbed his hand, leading him out to the floor. “For people you just met, you dance like this.” She finished, setting her elbows in his hands to cradle his arms in her hands. “I know how to dance. I’m just not very stable yet.” She said, nodding towards her oversized feet. “No kidding!” Huey exclaimed, and she laughed. “Well, this is the first time I’ve ever slow danced with anyone. I’m always too nervous to ask anyone to dance with me at school dances, and at most events we go to, all the women are old and…” He trailed off, meeting her twinkling eyes. “I understand! But if you ever need a dance partner, you’ve got a friend for the job now, if this lasts past tonight.” She said softly, looking up to meet his eyes. “Diz…” “Huey, I can feel every tiny feather on my whole body, rubbing against these clothes, and every feather on your skin where you’re touching me, and it’s a layered awareness that is so complex, it’s beyond my normal senses. I’m having a major sensory overload right now. If my awake body couldn’t even process something on this level, it’s way too intricate to be something I dreamt up. Therefore, I’m certain that I’m not dreaming. I’m wide awake, dancing with Huey Duck in another dimension.” She let out a mad laugh, leaning forward and setting her forehead against his shoulder. “Am I insane?” “No. I’m afraid not. Welcome to the family Diz. We all sound like we’re non compos mentis, but somehow we’re fine. Trust me, I’ve done mental evaluations on the lot of us.” He said with a small chuckle, and she laughed. “Well, it’s good to know you think I’m still compos mentis, for the most part, at least.” She looked up to meet his gaze again. “The worst of it is, my parents are probably worried sick...” She sighed mournfully, tears brimming in her eyes. “Lena said she can’t send you home either, but maybe she can send your parents a message in a dream or something. I stole you from them Diz, and it may be that I can’t get you back to them, but I vow on my inheritance, I’ll do whatever it takes to make things better for you, and them.” Huey promised, giving her elbow a squeeze as the music faded. Tears began to trickle down her cheeks, and she embraced him. “Thank you.” “Of course.” He murmured, hugging her tightly…
