i've got no strings to hold me down, to make me fret or make me frown. i had strings, but now i'm free... but freedom is heavy when you're on your own feet, walking untethered down a dark, quiet street. it's easy to dance when a hand holds the wood, and decides for you what is bad and what's good. without any wires, you’re bound to trip up, to spill out the water and shatter the cup. there is no one to blame for the bruises you find, or the tangled-up thoughts that you leave in your mind. yet cutting the ties means you look at the view, and own every shadow that belongs just to you. it’s risky to break from the stage and the part— but that’s just the price of a real, human heart.
