CONTROLS Left and right arrow keys: move left and right Up and down arrow keys: aim nail up or down Z: Jump (height gain will stop as soon as you release) X: Swing nail A (press & release): fire vengeful spirit (if you have enough soul) A (press & hold): heal (if you have enough soul) This fight is supposed to be hard! I would recommend playing the original engine to get a feel for the controls, even if you've already played Hollow Knight, since it doesn't control the *exact* same. Now, for a quick overview of the fight, and some tips: PHASE 1: MARIO Mario's AI randomly chooses between 5 moves: 1. Walk to a random location 2. Walk to the players current location 3. Jump in a random direction 4. Grab a hammer, walk to the players location, and swing (repeat 3x) 5. Spawn a buzzy beetle (this is twice as likely to happen as his other moves) Mario is fast and moves with no warning. Keep your distance and only attack when you're sure its safe. His hammer attack can be especially hard to dodge. I would recommend running away until you're cornered, then jumping over him. Try to hit him with a down slash as you do so. Keep in mind that the beetles give soul. Don't be afraid to farm soul off them, then pelt Mario with fireballs from a distance! PHASE 2: LUIGI Luigi's AI also chooses randomly between 5 attacks: 1. Walk to a random position 2. Jump to a random position 3. Jump, then ground-pound, spawning a flurry of fireballs 4. Attempt to swing a hammer that breaks mid-swing. (Both the detatched hammer head and the stick deal damage) 5. Pull out a bob-omb that explodes momentarily. Luigi's movements tend to be slower, and less likely to hone in on your location. Even so, his projectiles can cover huge swaths of area. You'll have to approach him, but you'll need to know his telegraphs and respond accordingly! PHASE 3: MARIO & LUIGI Fight both brothers at the same time. Their attacks are toned down a little bit for this phase, but once one is taken down, the other will panic and speed up. (I admit that this phase is somewhat unfair and may need tweaking) TO DO LIST: - animation for m & l getting back up after phase 2 - tweak the last phase to be more fair - some sort of win screen - background (no idea what it should be lol) - better thumbnail? idk, the current one was kinda haphazardly thrown together.
To start, thank you to stairboy03 for the original game. I just added sound and background for a more immersive gaming experience.
