This is local multiplayer 3 Player Chess. How to play: When it is your turn, you can click on a piece to select it. The spaces where the piece can go will be highlighted in gray. To actually move there, just click one of the highlighted spaces. You can also click anywhere else to deselect the piece and you can use your mouse to hover over any other piece. As per the pieces themselves: they all move like normal. So pawns can double-move, En Passant and castling works. As per the geometry: you can see that the board is divided into quadrants. Everything works as normal there, AND in any pair of neighbouring quadrants (so they share a side) everything works like normal. So rooks just slide over the border. Knights are defined as going 2 in one direction and 1 in a perpendicular one no matter what. Diagonals are a bit interesting: if they aren't going through the center, they follow the regular behaving-quadrant-pair rule. But if they go through the center, they fork into both available directions. So bishops still can't switch colors. And as per pawns: if a pawn is on their home quadrant-pair, they move directly away from it, and if they're on another colors quadrant-pair, they move directly towards it. When they reach the end, you can choose which piece they promote to. The order of turns is red -> green -> blue. As per check: when you are under check, a big fat exclamation mark appears around your board. Moving into check is NOT ILLEGAL nor is moving out of it; and you can actually capture the king. Checkmate is implicit by your opponent just having no way out, moving once (they can still do something like capture a protected queen with their king) and letting their king get captured. Stalemate works the same as checkmate. When their king is captured, their turn is skipped for the rest of the game. Winner is last player with alive king. As per the button: This will add extra info. If your mouse hovers over any of the swords, you will learn all of the spaces attacked by all pieces of that color. Any piece that is attacked and unprotected will get an exclamation mark placed over them. Although the king will get an exclamation mark no matter whether he is protected.
The "extremely" "talented" and "beautiful" artwork of benedykt_k (I know it's a sextant and not a quadrant but whatever) Also: Be warned that if you want to remix the game and suddenly all of the pieces dissapeared and it wants to promote some blue pawn you don't see, that's likely the array called Alphabet being empty and the game being unable to interpret positions due to that.
