The Xen Research Vehicle Mk. 2 (XRV-2) is a state-of-the-art research tool providing Xen research crews enhanced mobility, safety, and quality of life. It is powered by 8 DC brushless electric motors, which are in turn powered by a 1,750 kWh NiMH battery pack located along the middle of the lower chassis. The crew compartment rides on top of this chassis on 12 airbags, providing a more comfortable and stable ride over rough terrain. Inside There are living quarters for a crew of up to 4, as well as research stations and 2 Hazardous EnVironment (HEV) suit docks. The vehicle is capable of sustaining a 4-man crew for up to 3 weeks without resupply.
