Update 33 | Jumping Owl Owl has a tendency to rush into jumps, so today I worked with him to try and get him to think about where he puts his body rather than just throwing himself at jumps. Firstly, I really focused on his warm up. Incorporating plenty of transitions and school movements into his warm up, I ensured that he was responsive and listening to me. I especially focused on his canter, shortening and lengthening to ensure that he was attentive to my aids and that he had a good working canter instead of just rushing. Approaching the jump, I ensured that Owl was in a good working trot. This was because I didn't want him to get excited in the canter. I had a placing pole in front of the jump also in order to help him with his striding. When we'd popped over the jump a few times in trot we had a go at the canter, and although at first he did rush a bit, he was much better and seemed to understand what I wanted him to do. @Stxrry-Nightz | Background & Tack @ghostsonqs | Puffer Jacket @MythtopianPegasus | Rider Base & Owl
