Chapter 3: Killing ground In a world with sentient machines and no organics, a new leader steps from the shadows. Tensions rise, until one day. While Gausstavus ravaged the Vampiric Commonwealth, the Tsar finally had Enough and sends a fleet of six Ships of the Line and ten frigates to try and destroy one of Karoliner's major port, the Floating Fortresses of Horatio is now threatened, if the Tsar succeed, Horatio will suffer a great loss, since most of Horatio's resources are from foreign land, and with one of their source of imports cut off, they can't let another get cut off as well. And because of that, even the legendary Lord Nelson even with one arm missing commands the Horatio fleet himself, five ships of the line and seven frigates. People said that him pointing at something alone could melt entire sloops of war. An upgrade that made his finger fires out a powerful beam was then added, making it quite literally, but since how much these ships can endure, it's not like it's a superweapon. Mi'hail Tal, commander of the Karoliner Navy will also help destroy the Tsarist fleet, but for now, they're still three days apart. With the Vampiric Commonwealth signed the treaty of Forena. Causing the Commonwealth to be a puppet under Gausstavus, fortunately or unfortunately depending on who you're siding with, King Sigismund managed to escape to the Tsardom, alongside a few dozen Sky Vampiric Lancers. The Tsar had enough, sending four thousand troops, he decided that this ends now! Along with two hundred mounted infantry, but what he didn't expect was that Gausstavus was already on the move, marching towards the south, the Tsarist had no idea and continued to march towards where the Karoliner's supposedly are. While they themselves lost two Ships of the Lines, three more damaged. They also lost four frigates and got two damaged. Lord Nelson said that "Chasing them won't be worth that much, they're already crippled." As soon as the Tsarist fleet was outside gun range, both navy decided to let them flee back to their land. This is happening while the Tsar's army is on pursuing the Karoliner, knowing this. King Gausstavus decided to lead his more experienced army trough the rocky mountains in the south, before finally facing the Tsarist army, both worn down and have been on the move for days. The only advantage Gausstavus currently has is the fact that his army is more experienced than the Tsar's. The Tsarist army marched upon the now stationary Karoliner, marching in columns. The Karoliners opened fire with their cannons, focusing their entire batteries on to one column. The Tsarist decided to to change into a more thin formation to maximize firepower. But the Grand Grenadiers use this opportunity to fire and advance on the currently vulnerable Tsarist army. Cannons and firearms fired upon the changing Tsarist formation, the mounted infantry arrived and managed to slow down the advance. They rode on horseback, dismount and fought on foot. Using laser carbines and sometimes disruptor blades. However, for the rest of the Tsarist army, the Karoliner's fire was devastating. The shock cavalry of Gausstavus' army are arriving to charge at the disorganized troops. However, from the mountains a few skirmisher units managed to disrupt and weaken the cavalry. Back on the main front, the Tsarist troops is now barely organized, and not long after, they routed the moment they saw the shock cavalry charging upon them, the Grenadiers finding this chance to destroy the Tsar's routing army charged at them with Disruptor Bayonets. But after what seems like eternity of chasing, the Tsarist army managed to escape. But their guns fired upon the charging Grenadiers with Scatterblast shots, before they themselves get captured by the Karoliners. This is another Gausstavus victory, a thousand and fifty Tsarist troops are either destroyed, damaged or captured. While seven hundred Grenadiers are destroyed or damaged. The battle of Rockenbreg caused the Tsarist army to be devastated and forced the Grand Grenadiers to retreat back to the mainland. But the Karoliners decided to station thier standard line battalions on the Commonwealth's territory, who is turned into a puppet state. Both nations proceed to strengthen their army, but Gausstavus was surprised that the Tsardom managed to damage his ports. Even if the port is fixed, it exposed a weakness for the Kingdom of Karoliner, their navy is not as strong and their naval commanders aren't as good. They realized that they need Horatio to protect their coasts.
