Wave the flag, then tap the screen, use arrow keys or the press the space bar. This is from my personal notebook. It'd mean a lot to me if you could read this entire section too! :) ====== "As I watched them sleep, taking on another overnighter. They looked so vulnerable. So cozy... and so warm, as I inched towards the moonlight, I also reached out leaning closer to them... in hopes I would one day become closer to them." What happens when a houseplant is cared for to the point where it decides randomly it wants to become human? These concept sketches will go over just how truly horrible that would be for the world we live in. Meet Miss Charlie The houseplant. Resident Slender Palm Lily and treasured houseplant of the Wright Anything Agency, (formally known as the Wright and Co. Law Offices.) Despite her name being always spelled slightly wrong and being commonly misclassified as a male plant species no matter how much fruit she bore, the members of the agency who her and took nice care of her made her feel something deep down in her roots that most plants simply couldn’t… the feeling of being in love… and those were real, genuine human emotions… A houseplant that genuinely desires humanity doesn’t simply grow into a person. It takes time. Reality itself begun negotiating. Her vines untwist into arms, her roots separate into feet, every leaf upon her body softens into flowing green hair, and the chloroplasts that once let her harvest sunlight scatter across her skin as tiny freckles. She no longer photosynthesizes. She smiles. That’s where everything went wrong. The universe has an unwritten rule: if one thing crosses the boundary between pre-defined categories, every category suddenly becomes negotiable. In other words, humans stop being entirely 100% human. ====== Notes: I made this towards the end of the SWC for July, 2026. It was so much fun! Thanks to all who joined in! It means a lot to me! :D ====== Extra Tidbits: I have gotten a significant amount of folks from both online groups and in person asking me pressing questions regarding my creative methods as of late. This has sort of deeply impacted both my motivation and mental space, which is the primary reason behind my noticeable absence and why I haven’t been sharing new content as frequently as I used to. The reality is that I have invested years into honing my technical skills, and I actually possess quite a bit of knowledge in artistic principles on paper as well... However, my decision to overlay, mask, and cover up that fact by going over my work in digital layers is rooted in a specific technical struggle: my physical line work is notoriously inconsistent, often appearing either aggressively heavy-handed and dark or so lightly done that it barely registers on the page. I often struggle to find that professional middle ground. Despite this, almost every piece I create begins as a raw, hand-drawn graphite sketch somewhere or another, serving as the essential blueprint before any digital refinement begins. I already know the questions forming in your minds: "If the foundation is there, why don’t you share these raw, hand-made drawings more often?" To be completely honest, this hesitation stems from deeply ingrained and tragic experiences during my years in the public education systems. Back then, I really lacked the confidence to showcase my original sketches. On the rare occasions I trusted one of my peers to look over my coolest art concepts, the results were often devastating, Actually, to say they were just devastating alone is probably a massive understatement. It most definitely went far beyond just that. Simply put, it was a cataclysmic catastrophe. The events that would proceed to annihilate my faith in both myself and the majority of those around me. For a very long time. Those who I thought I could trust would often plagiarize my ideas and pass them around as their own. Eventually, it got to the point where an entire group of them would go through my belongings, raid my art binder and physically tear up each and every single one of my original copies. The worst part? The public school systems I was in chose to take no action. They did absolutely nothing to help me in these situation. Always leaving me in tears by the time I got home. I would also be subjected to that endless relentless bullying that would often persist for the entire remainder of the school year. It was a deeply traumatic environment that stifled my willingness to be open with the full process. By sharing this history with you, as my dedicated supporters, I am taking another step towards transparency. I sincerely hope that this community will continue to be a safe space and that my trust in you folks won't be misplaced.
