Regalpaw awoke from its sleep, feeling its muscles complain at the effort, trying to drag it back down to its nest. It struggled forward, shivering, glancing at the fresh-kill pile, or at least the pitiful remains of it. 2 lonely pieces. It couldn't eat, despite the hunger clawing at it from the inside. The kits, the elders, everyone... It had to wait. Wait for the prey that never arrived. It glanced once more at it, longingly, before shaking its head slowly - it wouldn't do for it to get in trouble now. It padded forward, each step heavy, out of the camp. It could try to catch something, even if it was just a pathetic fish or something. It would break the code by eating, but at this point? It didn't care. It padded further along, trying not to fall down, to make it to the ocean. Would it even make it there? It was worth a shot. It plodded onwards, spying the point where the water met the sand. There. It was there. It felt liquid escape its eyes, dipping down on the sand, leaving an obvious splodge in the sand. It- It had made it. It might, might be able to eat something, anything. It edged forwards again, managing to get to the shore, the salty water splashing at its paws. It raised a quivering paw, watching over the sea. But... But what did it do? It had never learnt to hunt. It had just waited in the shadows, watching. It had waited too long. It had failed. It had promised itself, that if it could learn how to fit in... it would no longer just be... it. If it could be someone, someone who /belonged/. But it could never belong here. It belonged in /Flurryclan/. Away from these strange cats. But it had failed. It was an idiot. *** A sodden pile of brown fur lay in the centre of the camp. A warrior had to fish the body out of the sea and drag it to the centre of camp. It was definitely an apprentice, though that was all anyone knew. Everyone murmured recognition, but no-one could put a name to the body. The nameless apprentice lay, unmoving, surrounded by tears of generic pity by the softer-hearted. No-one sat vigil for them. They were alone. __________________________________________ Sobbing this is so late- Regal unfortunately passed away to starvation like. three weeks ago If you want to then feel free to mourn though I don't expect like anything lolll what's with me and having motivation flops to the end of characters' lives
