Chapter 2: Tensions rise In a world with sentient machines and no organics, a new leader steps from the shadows. The shard of Empress, also known as her Avatar, is called upon by the Eastern Dynasty when a titan is spotted. Her mission is simple, kill it. After she was shattered by the Tsar's Black Guards during the War of Banks. The Tsardom managed to defeat the Eastern Dynasty, but the Tsarist troops did not win without suffering heavy losses. During the Battle of the Great Wall alone, the one where the Empress was shattered. Forty thousand Tsarist troops became casualties, fifteen thousand of them completely destroyed. Compare that to the Dynasty's loss of thirty five thousand Dynasty troops, ten thousand of them destroyed, the rest were either injured or captured. The Empress, now consisting of a hundred and twenty shards, each could be used to summon her. She still supposedly still exist, talking to dying Dynasty troops or Palace Guards. In her Palace, her remains sat on her thrown, a skeleton of something who used to be elegant and beautiful. Their defeat against the Tsardom makes them as eager as ever to make stronger technology and find better tactics. The Dynasty has six Cetbang reality-warping cannons, relics used by their ancestors to hunt down titans such as the Sky Serpent or Giant Dagger Spiders. These creatures are hunted down for parts and to ensure safety in the Dynasty. However, this is all in the past, both nations now are at peace and in a way, friends. But back in Gausstavus' kingdom, not everything is so peaceful. The failed rebellion made Gausstavus strengthen his army significantly while improving relations with the Floating Fortresses of Horatio. But that made the Tsar to feel uneasy. If Gausstavus keeps doing this, he will be unstoppable, and nothing could stop his growing army. With Gausstavus getting stronger, and the Tsardom army is currently not so organized a war won't really be in the Tsar's favor. An idea is to strengthen the Tsarist Navy and start a naval blockade. But for now, the Tsardom is not officially at war with the kingdom of Karoliner. Back in Gausstavus' castle. One of his Grand Grenadiers asked "Sire, what should we do?" Towards his king, his Disruptor Bayonet turned off and his shoulder burnt. "I want this." Answered King Gausstavus, pointing at the map of the Vampiric Commonwealth, a land filled with vampiric heavy lancers, using their wings to dive into enemy formations violently tearing them apart to eat on their parts, they have a gift that makes their self repair systems a hundred times more effective, but unlike the others who is capable of fixing minor damages over time, troops of the Vampiric Commonwealth needs their damage parts to come in contact with fresh scrap, however, with enough scrap they can regrow entire limbs. The Karoliners attacked with a naval invasion, bringing three thousand two hundred Grand Grenadiers, five hundred shock cavalry, and two gun batteries. Against a force of a thousand vampiric lancers and two defensive mortar batteries. The invasion starts with four columns of infantry and two squadron of cavalry scouts the left flank. Three squadron of Sky Vampiric Lancers dive down towards the incoming cavalry squadrons, the charge was devastating, forty cavalrymen were killed, but the Lancers became disorganized, and was easily destroyed in a drawn out melee, a hundred and fifty Lancers were killed and the rest flew away. The other lancers tried to dive and charge against the infantry columns, but was destroyed by Gausstavus' cannon's Scatterblast shots. The survivors flew away while getting shot at by Cannon fire. Four hundred sky lancers were shot down that day, and the invasion of the Vampiric Commonwealth has begun. The reason for the invasion was Gausstavus' ambition to expand his empire, knowing that the Tsardom was weakened after the War of Banks, they aren't really a threat. The Tsar, leader of the Glacier tribes and King Sigismund leader of the Vampiric Commonwealth, knowing that Gausstavus may be undefeatable if faced alone, but can be overwhelmed started a coalition. The Eastern Dynasty is fully aware of this, seeing an opportunity since they are still planning revenge on the Tsardom. They strengthened their bond with the Floating Fortresses of Horatio. Who is allied with Gausstavus, they realized that the Tsardom can't fight a two front war, and with Lord Nelson on their side, a naval battle won't be favorable for the coalition either. The coalition however, has more manpower and ships. While the triple alliance has bigger ships, better soldiers, generals, cannons, and resources. Tensions are rising, but war has not been declared yet. The current powers consists of The Great Tsardom, Vampiric Commonwealth, and Glacier tribes against the Kingdom of Karoliner, Eastern Dynasty, and Horatio. War, for now is only between the Karoliner and Commonwealth, but things will change soon. It cannot be avoided.
