Welcome to Simple Programming App! This app has one sprite and one backdrop. Write code by adding commands to the code list. Commands usually use two lines: 1. The command 2. Its value But not always. The run mechanism takes about 0.5 seconds to go through each line, due to scratch's speed. BUTTONS Add code Adds code at the end of your code list. You can type any supported command. Delete code Deletes the line of code you choose. Replace code Replaces the line you choose with the text entered in “What is the content of this line?” Insert code Inserts text at the line you choose using the “What would you like to insert?” input. Run code Runs your code. Search the costume library Search for a word to see which costumes the sprite has with that word in their name. Search the backdrop library Search for a word to see which backdrops have that word in their name. COSTUMES Switch to Scratch Cat: switch costume to Scratch Cat Switch to Apple: switch costume to Apple There are 135 costumes altogether. BACKDROPS Switch to Arctic: switch backdrop to Arctic Switch to Xy-grid: switch backdrop to Xy-grid There are 61 backdrops altogether. POSITION AND MOVEMENT Set the x position: set x to 25 Set the y position: set y to -25 Change the x position: change x by -15 Change the y position: change y by 15 Point in a direction: point in direction 20 This points the sprite up, then turns it 20 degrees to the right. Turn right: change direction by 10 Move forward: move steps 10 VARIABLES Create a variable: variable variableName Give a variable a value: variableName This is a variable! You must create a variable before assigning it a value. Otherwise, the app shows a syntax error. Copy another variable’s value: variable original original I'm original! variable copyCat copyCat original copyCat becomes “I'm original!”, not “original”. SAY Make the sprite speak: say I said something! Make the sprite say a variable’s value: variable greeting greeting Hello, World! (variable) say greeting The sprite says: Hello, World! Speak for two seconds: say for 2 seconds Hello! SHOW AND HIDE Show the sprite: show Hide the sprite: hide ASK Ask the player a question: ask What's your name? An input box appears. After the player types an answer and presses Enter, it is saved in the built-in answer variable. WAIT Wait for a number of seconds: wait seconds number of seconds you want to wait for EFFECTS Set colour effect: set colour effect to 50 Set fisheye effect: set fisheye effect to 25 Set whirl effect: set whirl effect to 10 Set pixelate effect: set pixelate effect to 30 Set mosaic effect: set mosaic effect to 4 Set brightness effect: set brightness effect to 50 Set ghost effect: set ghost effect to 60 You can use change instead of set to adjust an effect from its current value.
