Sunny is not a good parent, nor is he a bad one. She’s never had a genuine parental figure that guided her through life, so she won’t know how to be like one. Instead, they’ll mix up what they learnt from Delphine and Divinedissonance. Dobsonflydaydream will aim to teach their kits pretty much everything- from making flower crowns to fighting foxes, Sunny will make sure his kits are prepared. It prefers to step back and let kits learn for themselves, just like Dobby once had to do. Since Sunny never had a true mother/father, he won’t know the best way to parent his kids. She’ll be uncertain most times whether to punish or praise them- though, most of the time, if her kits do something wrong, she’ll tell them what they did wrong and suggest other things they could do. It treats its kits like younger siblings that it now has to care for, which can sometimes lead to Dobsonfly confiding in them. They won’t favour their kits per se, but they’ll check in on them a lot more often than others, especially during the first few moons of their life. During that time, Sunny will spend most of her time in the nursery, caring and fawning over them. Then, when they reach apprentice age, Dobby will teach them. Lessons of love, of grief, of longing that had once been told to him. He’ll act like a mentor to his kids, a shoulder to cry on, a teacher to learn from, and heart to beat in tune with. Most of the lessons Dobsonfly will teach his kits is stories of old, like how Mossclan came to be, or the tragedy of Flurryclan. He’ll resist from teaching them about emotions or feelings, as Sunny isn’t that good at that, either. They don’t mind which path they take in terms of spiritual belief, but instead will follow behind them their entire way through. Dobsonflydaydream believes strongly in independence, and will often step back and let his kits solve problems for themselves. Or, it’ll just nudge them in the right direction. This can sometimes cause him to seem lazy or distant around his kits, which he’ll try to prevent as much as he can. After all, Dobby is only just a warrior, and a quite young one at that. She’ll try to put all her attention into her kits, but she’s still learning about life, too. Overall, she’s sweet, gentle and loving, but she’s far from perfect. He’s ready to step in when things get out of hand, but other than that, he steps away. Litter one This is Dobsonflydaydream first attempt, his first stumble into parenthood. Often, he’ll regret taking the kits for his own, and wonder if they’d be better off for someone more experienced. But of course, she’d never let her kits know that, nor would she ever want to be separated from them. They can seem distant at times, and, once they’re older, may not visit them for days at a time. But deep down, Sunny thanks Starclan every single day for the beauty that is his kits. He will be far from perfect, often not knowing exactly what to say and how to act. DO NOTE This litter takes place at a time that Dobsonflydaydream certainly isn't doing the best. He's recently been rejected by Sunspiderstar, and is still figuring out a lot of things within them. They may seem cold, distant, or oblivious to the kit's presence, especially during those first few moons where she's figuring out who it really wants to be and how it wants to act around others.
