-Born From The Stars- chapter 4 .Chapter 4 Minnowkit watched the drops outside fall down. It had started raining a few minutes ago, and she had been forced to find shelter in an abandoned tree stump. It smelled like rotting fresh kill, and wasn't the comfiest, but it worked for the time being. The first time it rained, Minnowkit was about two or three weeks old. Vixenkit had dared her to go out and splash in one of the puddles, and being the gullible cat she was, she of course went and did it. And the look on Featherstone's face when she came back soaking wet and muddy, you should've seen it. Featherstone ended up making Minnowkit sleep on the opposite side of the den so she didn't get any bedding wet. Minnowkit sighed. She hoped that Shallowkit got back to camp safely. “No, no.” She pushed the thought out of her head. She had made the decision to run away, and that meant relying on no one. She had run past the Riverclan border, and was wondering where she would go next. Watching the rain drops soothed her. Minnowkit was still tired, and she started drifting off to sleep. But before sleep could come, a sharp scent filled her nose. It smelled like a cat, but not like any of the Riverclan cats she had scented in camp. Whoever it was, Minnowkit didn't want to find out. Panicking, she turned around a lot, and tried to make herself small. She tensed as the footsteps got closer. Before long, two ginger paws passed by the stump and then disappeared. Relaxing, Minnowkit loudly sighed out. “What was that?” Oh no no no! She was going to be fish meat! She curled up in fear as a dark tabby head lowered to look in the log. “EEK!” She exclaimed. “Huh? What's a kit like you doing out in this weather?” The stranger asked. “Um, why should I tell you?” She quivered. “Did your mum leave you? A sad thing, that.” He continued to question. “What, No! I'm here cause I wanna be!” Maybe the tom would go away after a while. “Yeah, right. A youngster like you wouldn't last a day out here. Come with me, I can find shelter.” Minnowkit flailed as he reached down and grabbed her scruff. “Hey, hey! Stop it!” She whined. “Trust me kid, it's for your own good. I'm Oliver by the way.” Oliver? Such a strange name. But whoever this cat was, she did not like him. His grip was strong though, and she couldn't easily wiggle out. They ended up walking for a while before coming to a strange smelling place made of wood. He let Minnowkit down, and she immediately scurried off to a corner of the structure. “Where are we?” “Welcome to my place, I think it used to be a housefolk den.” Housefolk? She looked around at the den. It creaked a little in the storm, but it was pretty spacious, and she was kinda glad to be out of the stump. “Hey, what's yer name?” Oliver turned to her. “Um, Minnowkit.” Minnowkit replied. “Minnowkit… That's a cool name!” “Really?” “Yeah, more interesting than some of the other cats I've met.” Oliver complimented. “Why don’t I get some prey for us, while you stay here?” “Uh, okay.” She agreed. Minnowkit watched as he walked off. I guess she could stay here until the rain stopped. She noticed a comfy patch of moss near the edge of the den, and settled in it. Flicking her tail, she wondered why Oliver hadn't asked about it yet. Maybe he was trying to be polite? None of the other Riverclan cats were slow to point the imperfection out. The moss was really comfy though, and she quickly fell asleep.
