31. HP Update - Pole training w/ Fox - - - - Today I decided I would train Fox with poles. I went to his stall and he was a bit hesitant to come out as he was eating. After letting him have one last bite of hay, I brought him to the crossties. At the crossties, I brushed him down but he was fairly clean, so he didn’t need that much brushing. I went and got his tac, and tacked him up. He didn’t toss his head or any of that when I was cinching him, which is impressive (considering most of my current horses do that). I detached him from the cross ties and brought him to the outdoor arena. The weather was so perfect that I decided we could stretch our riding time. I did a lot of warmup laps with him, considering the round pen was being used, so he had not been worked. We just went through the basic gaits and our transitions. Then, I set up some poles. We weaved through and were very slow at first, but as we got more confident, we picked up the pace and were zigzagging at lightning speed. Even through we were doing really well, I noticed that the entire time we were riding he was very clumsy. Specifically that he would lose his footing and bump into the poles, or that he constantly tripped over something that wasn’t there. I’ll try to help him with that in our next session. We then did a little cooldown lap in just a jog and walk, then I took him to go get brushed and put him back in his stall. Very good session overall, we did great and he left me with lots of plans for our next session :) Guys ik I’ve worn the same rider fit like several projects in a row it’s because I’m on mobile and it’s just the most accessible one for me, I promise in a couple days I’ll be back to normal :) Guys i SWEAR he had a bridle when i made this Scratch was being glitchy again :P I do not claim full, partial, or any ownership over Fox. - - - - Creds!
