Here's a formation suggestion. Screening Group: In the front there is a corvette screening group, this is to intercept incoming missiles and take hits for the more expensive, heavier ships. Corvettes are a small loss, so this isn't too much of a meatgrinder. Main Line: The main line is where your firepower is, heavy cruisers with some missile cruiser support, these provide heavy firepower while the screening group protects them. Back Line: The back line has your carriers and some missile cruisers, these deploy your ranged arsenal as well as fighters. The line also has corvettes to intercept incoming missiles from the flanks.
