major. like MAJOR spoilers for tartrus of oblivion/new crk update inside and in this .. …. …. ….. ….. “and I will not look away, not once, not ever again..!” DUDE THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I CRIED DURING THIS so we got our scraps but instead we also got pure vanilla getting into his whole thing where he decided to carry his burden alone like dude did you not learn your lesson </3 I love you man but you have to let people help you sometimes anyways the funniest thing was just white lily like destroying the entire school and then pure vanilla was just like “dude I went to buy books for 25 minutes and she locked herself in a coffin and tried to get the first headmaster to talk to her </33 what just happened” like my guy is just chilling and then white lily is going through all of the horrors and he comes back and he’s just like “ARE YOU OKAY??? come on you have to get out of here” I love that he doesn’t ask her what she did. like he knows that she did it but he prioritizes her getting out and being safe rather than focusing on her mistakes and that’s so sweet. white lily is one of the characters I can see myself in (so is pure vanilla but more in a sense that I aspire to have his traits and to be like him) and I cried whenever she was spiraling and sobbing like it was so heartbreaking to know exactly what happens to her and being forced to relive her memories and shadow milk with the whole headmaster thing? INSANE. like I was theorizing why he had the first headmaster costume but I didn’t think it would be because HE IS THE HEADMASTER. like I knew from when it said “herald of change” it was probably him but like?? it was still really shocking shadowlily seems officially really weird to me considering now we know she was like a minor when he was like ancient/whatever and wherever his soul is I don’t know so. yes that’s really messed up I fear and not only shadowlily but this also brings me to realize that. beast x ancient also seems really strange considering their age gap and I know I’m going to get pitchforks raised at me for saying that but! just a reminder ok nether queen’s voice is so angelic and gentle and I love her so much asphodel is going to become the new pom pom dough /silly but seriously this episode was. a lot to handle and the percabeth??? THE PERCABETH AND PERCY JACKSON PARALLELS WERE LIKE GENUINELY CRAZY LIKE THEY BOTH WENT INTO TARTARUS/TARTRUS FOR THEIR GIRLFRIENDS LMAO and another sweet thing is that I love that he’s not standing in front of her, he’s not taking the reins, and he’s not standing behind her to let her carry this burden alone. he’s spent so much time believing he understood her and now that he finally gets the chance to help her he is standing beside her. and that means so much because like he’s being so supportive of her despite him still not understanding some parts of her and also this is just a quiet reminder that you don’t have to fully understand a person to like love them y’know I feel a lot of people hate on purelily because “he doesn’t understand her!” and yes. he doesn’t. but the whole point of her story is that no one ever will. and I have my partner who may not ever understand me fully, and I have my best friends that may not ever understand me fully, and yet they still love me for who I am and I love them in return /despite/ not knowing literally everything about them. you don’t have to fully understand a subject to like a subject, after all. I love the little addition that pure vanilla doesn’t drink tea as much as he used to because the aroma is “lacking” and that’s mostly because white lily isn’t there. considering the scene back in the academy where he talks about her lily aroma and loving her for who she is and I thought that was like so heartbreaking and sweet at the same time I feel like I know how his whole thing with bringing her back home is going to end- like I know they probably need her to figure out things with the radiant cookie and such but at the same time I feel like devsisters is going to make white lily realize where her burden lies being the (potential, we don’t know yet) successor to nether queen’s throne and that they’re going to have some heartbreaking moment where he realizes he can’t really fix things to go back to the way they were he’s like so determined to find her though and that’s really sweet of him ok? he knows that he has to lock in this time because he lost her once and my guy is not set on losing her again. he wants to help her so badly and he’s so intent on listening to her this time and not letting the moment pass, which I think is hinting just a soft bit to his feelings for her because he was so focused on worrying about her that he never realized how deeply her words reflected her burden. and he kind of (no he totally sobs) blames himself for her never having someone to understand her and he wants to be that person. he wants to walk alongside her.
song: she needs him by her’s [ continuation here .. ] …. …. …. one of the things that has to break me (in a good way ok) the most is the fact that he doesn’t stop reaching out for her and yearning for her. he doesn’t automatically decide that because of her mistakes that she’s beyond his aid and beyond saving. he doesn’t promise that she did nothing wrong. he doesn’t promise what he knows might not happen, but he just wants her to know that there will be someone standing beside her this time. I want to focus on the fact that they both have their problems ok? white lily isolates herself from the others because she believes that she doesn’t deserve any forgiveness for her mistakes, that she has to earn forgiveness, and that no one will ever understand her. pure vanilla isolated himself in the barrier because he believed that he had to face everything alone and fix it himself to be able to protect his friends and the people he loves. but he gives her someone who believes that she deserves forgiveness. he helps her believe that she doesn’t have to earn his forgiveness. and she helps him because she is a living example of someone who needs someone to stand by her, not someone who needs to suffer for her. one last two things before I end my ted talk! the coffin scene with white lily I feel was such a parallel to her costume with the veil of mourning and I have a feeling that devs knew exactly what they were doing when they made that costume. as if they were giving us a sneak peek to her past. and shadow milk being the whole headmaster thing really opens a whole pathway of potential lore and also more understanding to how he become who he is today. sure we already cover his whole thing with the fount of knowledge and we know why he got corrupted, but that’s something we know and perhaps not what the actual characters realize. if they’re going to find out about the first headmaster, I feel like more things are going to happen related to their understanding of who shadow milk is as a person and perhaps we’ll see more of those moments. this does lead me to wonder how and why he founded the magic academy exactly and when he did this all, but we don’t really have much information on that yet I fear with those things said, here’s a conclusion to my views on this update! I love the scraps we were fed in this update I couldn’t sleep thinking about them and genuinely this has to be (lore-related) one of my favorite updates of all time ok because this update really doesn’t feel like them going to fix the past and rewind everything to create a perfect world. I feel like we’ve already learned our lesson that if everything is happy and unicorns and rainbows, there will be no more updates and story GIGGLES but yes jokes aside I feel like this focusing much more on looking at people and separating them from what they have done and getting to know them for who they actually are and understanding why they are this way and I’m all in for character development and being able to comprehend the “why” of this situation so this has to be a win!! thank you so much for listening to me yap, I’m so excited to see what comes next and if you know me well, I’ll probably spend another 10 days screaming happily about this!! bye everyone <3
