designed by the GOAT @ksscabelle <33 lineart by @JUICE_B0X_HER0 name is a wip tbh .. amab klinefelter's synndrome research below - What Is Klinefelter's Syndrome? Klinefelter's Syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs when there is an extra X chromosome in an otherwise biologically male cat (XY), resulting in an XXY configuration as opposed to the standard XX (female) or XY (male) pairs. Just having an extra X chromosome is enough to count as Klinefelter's, though the condition most commonly shows up as having calico fur in felines. Klinefelter's only occurs in male cats, and this is because the XY chromosome, even with an extra X, still counts as male genes. - What does Klinefelter's Syndrome entail? Most cats with Klinefelter's Syndrome are infertile, as Orchid will be. Though it is not shown through this base, those with Klinefelter's Syndrome tend to have softer features as well. Additionally, they are more prone to developing diseases like diabetes, certain skeletal conditions, obesity, low bone density (with reduced bone mineral content, causing the bones to become more fragile) and sometimes cognitive issues (such as disorientation.) Male calicos also typically have a shorter lifespan as compared to their female counterparts. - How will this impact Orchid? Orchid will be infertile, and unable to have kits. Orchid wouldn't pay too much mind to this, if i'm being honest; adopting kits would be a good alternative to having his own, and cy's not too attached to the idea of bloodlines. Orchid will not be aware of cyr shortened bloodline, and thus wouldn't. care. As for the other health complications .. Orchid will have to be more careful when performing physical activities; cy may feel some frustration towards this, especially in his younger moons, but will grow to accept it. Disorientation and delicate bones are hard to deal with, especially so for a clan that lives up high. [ had to space some of them out sorry ]
